Final pay date was 19.12.24.

Yes, tried to do that, but it just said the employer does it, and they have six weeks.
I realise none of this is important, but just goes back to the original question. Who informs HMRC that you no longer work.
My only income currently is a small DB pension, which presumably has the wrong code, due to the fact that currently HMRC think I'm still in full time employment.0 -

Tried to update this, but it just says it's my ex employer who will notify them, and they have six weeks to do so. So, hardly instant.
In our process we have to update SAGE with our staff who have left & then submit our FPS to HMRC & then print & distribute the P45s.1 -

I believe if I was starting another job, I'd give the P45 to the new employer. I'm not planning on working again.
Do I have to do anything with the P45? Do HMRC automatically get a copy of it, or do I have to send it to them? If not, presumably they will think I'm still employed.
I've read online, that I should send it to my pension provider. If so, which one? Or is it all of them?I assume ‘Congratulations on your retirement’ is appropriate here?
So, since my last day, less than a month ago, an awful lot has happened to me.
I'm 65, never been ill before, other than flu, three times in my life. I was thinking of putting this in the bold leap thread, but I think people tend to prefer happy holiday retirements in there !
Minor in the scheme of things, buts it a shame you can’t delay your resignation and take some sick leave. Also, presumably you had booked annual leave from your last working day to your final employment day. Officially that should be changed to sick leave and any annual leave outstanding paid out. With hindsight, if I'd not have given my notice in three months earlier, I'd now be on full pay sick leave, but hey ho. I had no idea anything was wrong until two days after my last day. Oh well, still regard myself as lucky, partly to have got this far unscathed, and partly due to this being found, due to an unrelated emergency.0
