We paid 10% for a new fitted kitchen. No one came to measure. Long story short their 1st fitter was sacked for demanding money and not doing any work. The 2nd fitter refused to turn up. We requested SAR. One internal email states in black and white that the 1st fitter was previously sacked and he is in breach of contract with us the customer. The bank/partner finance is looking into our claim of Section 75. Meanwhile the loan instalments was due to start 8.1.25 but I cancelled the direct debit. Another section of the same partner finance has sent us a bill for the 90% balance plus nearly £2850 interest. Can they do this?

You took out finance for a product and need to pay. Cancelling a direct debit was not the best move, as it has now been passed to a different department who will try and claim the whole lot in one go. I imagine the loan people have paid the kitchen fitting company so now want their money back.
You need to get back onto your card provider (I assume that's what you used to pay the 10% deposit? Credit card?) and speak to the loan people yet making it clear that the job has been cancelled and the loan is no longer required.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

Your dispute was with the fitting company, not with the finance company.
You could try contacting the finance company as soon as you can, and speak to them about the situation and about what you did, and see if they will allow you to return to the previous agreement. I don't rate your odds, but there is nothing to lose from trying. This can then be recovered via S75 or from the fitting company.
In parallel (sounds like you may already be doing this) provide the evidence you have for breach of contract with the card and/or finance companies.0 -
The OP needs to contact the finance company as a matter of urgency. If as they are implying, the work has not been done, the finance company is also liable to address the failure to provide.
