Sorry if it is a daft question, but I have been unable to find the information online on Scottish powers site.  They are due to fit a smart meter for my electricity next week (electric only property).

At the moment I submit readings myself and that then generates a bill automatically at the time.

However, once a smart meter is fitted does any one know if I can get monthly bills/statements from them (as every where I look seems to suggest quarterly or 6 monthly).

At the moment I take readings every 4 weeks, which them generates a "bill" and then we split the 4 weeks cost between us 50/50, but would not want to only have formal bills issued once a quarter/once every 6 months as could cause issues.

The payment is made via monthly direct debit if that makes sense, but we also use the regular readings and statement issuement to confirm how much actually spent and that the direct debit is accurate

Have you asked SP?  Best from the Horse's mouth.

From what I can see they take smart meter reads at 30 day (nearly monthly) intervals rather than 28 days, 4-weekly.
Which seems to be roughly what EoN are doing with my smart meter reads and Billing.

    Your balance section

    Update your balance

Shows SP register daily smart meter readings

On any day(s) click submit pre-populated readings ( or change then)  balance updates and statement gets issued,
