Home Insurance - No claims query?

I am shopping around for quotes for contents insurance for my home. I have had house insurance for many years and I have never made a claim.
One of the questions when applying for a quote is the number of years you have made without a claim. My renewal invitation never discloses this figure (unlike motor insurance). So do I just quote the number of years I have never made a claim?

Yes. No claims bonus isn't a well developed concept in home insurance as it is in car insurance. Some insurers will give you a formal no claims discount which is recorded in your refenewal note, some will ask you how many years you've had had insurance for without claiming, and some will just ask if you've made any claims in the last X years without asking if you've actually had insurance for that time. You just need to answer the question that they actually ask you.1

Secondly check that it isnt asking how many years have you held insurance without making a claim, again is the more common Q as they arent interested in the years you didnt make a claim but didnt have insurance either as the later makes the former a little moot.0
