Morning all thanks Scarlet. Everyone who is having long awaited trips out, walks etc. enjoy! I feel like I've been cooped up for well over a week. There is still a pile of snow at the front which could do with breaking up then it'll melt quicker, and the back & front paths needs rinsing as I put some ash from the log burner out before we got the grit, did the trick but very messy now.DS2 has just called to discuss some plans for the current job but declined a drink so a quick visit.I need to go and pick up a meat pack from the butchers so plenty of choice for tonight. Chrisca- hope your chicken is good. Our butcher does weekly meat packs, small and large which work out a lot cheaper than just going into the shop and picking what you fancy, and he lets you do up to 3 swaps ( extra cost obviously if you swap from sausages to steak :0 !)Gers, hope your parcel gets sorted soon! I've got one hopefully being picked up by RMail this afternoon - some black trousers I ordered from Am.... but even with the right length ordered they're miles too long, and some snow boots haven't arrived so I have to get a refund - perils of shopping online.Right better go and do stuff, have a good day.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all! Been absent as I was in Wales visiting my sister for CHhristmas. Very good time was had even though if you're not in the kitchen it's actually freezing. I got my self a hot water bottle. The good thing is though, it may be feezing in the rest of the house but the kitchen and downstairs bathroom are warm and there's plenty of hot water on demand. Back home as of yesterday and after I told OH we had fish and chips, he went hunting for a new one [our old one closed down and was excellent] so we went to the one he found. Verdict, chips, amazing, really thick cut, really well cooked, fish, bit too cooked and greasy but edible. They've won awards for chips apparently, not surprised. Today is a spot of tidying and clearing. Im really not sure where to start but I'm fed up now, tools are everywhere and I need to empty under the stairs for a new meter being fitted tomorrow [old meter has come to end of it's life or will do in May] . It looks like I'll be in the smart meter brigade despite not wanting to be for years, butif I want to take advantage of other octopus tariffs, I'm going to need one.Glad the snow seems to e thawing out for some of you, fingers crossed it continues! TA, on't belittle your work so far, two bags going out is two bags going out...hope you have a nice meet up. Ruby, got a full complement today then
sounds like a nice day! WL, also sounds like a good day, but busy. The Morries dancing always sounds like so much fun. remmie, I'm going to have to take out some braised beef form the freezer now , enjoy the stew. Gers, my sister has ontroduced me to those programmes, now I think I've nearly watched them all...Coxy, well done for knitting anything anyway, I usually end up not being able to concentrate so just natter
Take care all, stay warm and the poodles...

Morning all. What a difference a day makes! (Now there's a cue for a song
) As far as I can see without going outside, a lot of of the snow has gone so I might just be able to leave the house tomorrow. There are still some icy patches on the pavements to navigate but they will hopefully disappear today. Highs of 10 c and lows of 7 c, positively overcoats warmer.
At this time of year I can normally see the daffodils outside my living room poking their heads through but not this year. Hardly surprising though as it's pretty overgrown and needs a good weeding, but I'm sure they're there somewhere! The small pot of hyacinths I bought before Xmas is just about finished but it's given me something cheerful to look at each morning when I open the kitchen blind. It will seem a bit bare without it so I'll have to look around for a replacement when I eventually venture out.
Not much planned for today, which is just as well, as I had a poor night's sleep. It took me ages to nod off and then I woke up for a comfort break, so not only less sleep but also interrupted sleep. SM delivery is due later and their email tells me everything is P&C with just one sub (acceptable). Once I've got that put away I may or may not have a nap.
Tea tonight is some of the beef stew I made yesterday so I just need to prep the potatoes and veg. I'll have the rest on Thursday or it can go in the freezer if there's enough room.
Nothing else to report so I'll wish everyone a good day. Take care, thoughts with those going through a hard time. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.9 -
Gers, we live in Bedfordshire so it's usually the local force on 24 hours. One time the person featured went to school with Laura, she eventually killed her boyfriend through DV.
I had a really poor night's sleep so I will definitely need a nap today. Esther is playing with play doh with Laura so I'm not on duty this morning.
I bought several storage containers from b and M, I think they're for jewellery but the compartments are perfect for all the tiny pieces of Lego we have so I spent a good part of yesterday sorting.
Thinking of all the poorly poodles.
Have a good day.9 -
Morning everyone just got in from a cleaning job and it’s a balmy 10 degrees and bright what a difference everybody is so much more cheerful it’s certainly made me feel better most of the snow has gone a few bits to watch out for but otherwise it’s safe to walk about. I’ve just been to the market and got hubby a couple of sudoku books and he was selling the silicone liners for the air fryer for a pound so I’ve bought one to try he had a few different shapes and sizes . I’m going to take the dog out for a decent walk soon and beef stew for tonight it’s the last off the Sunday joint. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing9

Welcome back @Taff. @Snoozer - what a dreadful outcome for that poor girl. My fascination is because what happens and how people live is so far removed from my own life it's a wake up call for me to keep in mind how good mine is. No spoilers for WL but that poor chap yesterday broke my heart.I've been out and now lit the woodburner - can't inflict my cold home on a friend!9

Afternoon all, bit of pottering her but nothing much to report
nearly packed as not wearing our summer clothes needed for our holiday, even though weather a lot better now in KentCarolbee9 -
Grocery delivery arrived and all put away. The freezer is chockablock and, whilst not everything is in the drawers I would like it to be in, it's in! Prices increases since I last bought them: eggs, single cream, onions, lettuce, baking potatoes, spring onions and tissues.
So far this month, I have spent just £28.19 on groceries so the Low Spend January plan is on course.
There's easily plenty of food to last me for a good while.
@silver-oldie - How are you getting on with your meals? I remember you saying you were finding it hard making meals for just yourself. I'm finding it not too bad but have to admit I am eating differently now that I can please myself. Not that DH was a fussy eater, it was just difficult trying to get him to eat anything at all. I have some food items left that I'd bought to tempt him and once they've gone I'll not be replacing them. Example: Marmite!Be kind to others and to yourself too.8 -
Gers, I obviously wasn't very clear, the woman was the aggressor, she'd been beating her partner up for some time.6

@Coxy11 - Could you post a picture of your tea cozy when it is finished? I am looking for a good tea cozy pattern for my Knitting and Crocheting class. Would love to see what yours looks like.
Today I will be visiting my roommate who is in a nursing home, then going to a meeting there about when she comes home. Have to go to the library afterward to get ready for Friday's book sale. Home to collapse.6
