Ive just found a thousand of them !... the last edition befor the euro, so i will be unable to exchange them anywhere in the u.k ?
  • Franch banknotes were not printed on the thickest of paper so the condition that is acceptable to collectors is a little wider than for other notes. Take a look on eBay and see what examples are going for and then decide if its worth it, but only list on a free listings day, just in case they don't sell!

As for exchanging notes, take a look at the European Central Bank website (www dot ecb dot eu, taking out the spaces and replacing dots with .) and there's a table of last redeamable dates. Its not always necessary to travel to teh country concerned, I've exchanged Dutch, Belgian and Austrian currencies by post as it worked out cheaper than going to the country! I only had small amounts and no money so a holiday was out of the question.

Post is over a year old!
  • Hi. Couldn't find any advice on this subject. Having a new year clear out and found a lot of French Franc banknotes that we forgot about. Is there any way to cash these in or even give them to a charity? If not, I suppose they wil be useful to light the fire.
Many thanks (a newcomer to the Forum so please accept my apologies if I have done something wrong)
