Amazon Refund/Return Headache

Options
I will try to keep this brief, but bare with me.

My girlfriend orderded me a Ticwatch (Smart watch) from Amazon for Christmas.

Sold by Mobvoi, fulfiled by Amazon.

As this was a present for me she elected to have it delivered to a local amazon locker so the surprise wouldn't be ruined. Parcel gets delivered to locker and my girlfriend collected the parcel. When she gets home and opens the box there is no watch but a bag of sweets.

She then contacted Amazon who refunded the order and asked for her to return the item (which she thought was odd as it is a bag of sweets) and she agreed to do so.

First attempt to return the item Royal Mail was meant to collect the parcel from the home address, but they never collected. She contacted Amazon again and arranged for it to be sent via Evri Labeless shop. She took it to the local Evri shop (which happened to be the local post office), recevied the Evri receipt and thought that was that.

Amazon have now recharged her for the item. The moment they recharged her she contacted them again and they emailed her asking for information such as Order Number, Date, Return Tracking Number, Item, etc. She has sent all the information she has including receipt number and tracking number from Evri.

Amazon are now telling her that they have the item but as she hasn't given them a tracking number starting with 'T' they are unable to confirm reciept of the item. She has never had a tracking number with 'T' and when she has been on the phone with Amazon talking her through where to find this number it is not where Amazon say it should be.

Does anyone have any idea how this can be resolved as she really doesn't want to have paid for something that was never received.

    I don't understand.

Are you saying Amazon have told her that they have received the item but that they can't confirm they have received it?

    That makes no sense.

Can't your girlfriend post here?   ("send three and fourpence etc")
