pension with child benefits question

Hi All
My wife and i are in the unusual situation of caring for our own child (7) at pension age. We receive monthly basic child benefit ( 400 month approx.) . I still work and our total income including pensions is 32k annually. No significant savings. We have never claimed benefits for 40 years but we are struggling now with household costs and child related costs , transport etc.. I wonder what other state or council help we might be entitled to? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks . Tony M

Ah, here https://www.mygov.scot/scottish-child-payment/who-should-apply0 -
IS the OP perhaps getting child tax credit as well as child benefit?
OP you can put your details into one of the benefit calculators to find out if there is anything you can claim

It sounds like you’re getting Child Tax Credit (and potentially Working Tax Credit) as that figure doesn’t match Child Benefit rates?
If that is the case, at some point in the not too distant future you’ll be migrated to Universal Credit OR Pension Credit. As I understand it, if you are pension-age but are still working and receiving WTC then you’ll be invited to claim UC. If you are pension-age but not working, so only claiming CTC then you’ll be invited to claim Pension Credit.0 -
