Morning everyone TA I feel your pain another one stuck in the house it isn’t thawing at all have to wait until Tuesday the paths are lethal I am meeting my friend in the morning for a coffee it is only at the end of the street but I’m going to pick my way along in any gaps of ice I haven’t seen her since before Xmas we have a lot to catch up on and I need to see some life and I need to get a little bit of shopping we will see it might have to wait until Tuesday. Mehefin I’m pleased to hear you have a hammer but it will still be cold take care of yourself. I’ve got a little joint of beef in the oven Yorkshire pudding and veg later at least keeping out of the shops is making a hole in my freezer stocks and saving me some money. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing11

Morning all, we are up to 1 degree and some of the ice/snow has gone but the pavements are still bad. I didn't keep the logburner in during the night as I have the last few. The heating has gone off now so starting to feel a bit chilly. I can't really see us venturing out unless we take some logs to DS2s. We've filled our inside store up ( or rather DS1 has) so there are a few left he could have. Might have to use your ikeabag log store idea Gers! Plus DGd might be there- we don't see her nearly as much now she's a teenagerWill watch footie this afternoon, and I've got a pork fillet out for later.Hope your appt goes well Nan, sorry it's a trying time for you.Bye for now, stay safe.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all. It's Groundhog Day! Today's forecast is for sunny intervals and light winds, highs of +2 C and lows of -2 C. The thaw begins and I'm looking forward to being able to get out of the house sometime this week once the pavements aren't as lethal.
I put the new shoe rack together yesterday, fairly simple although the pictorial instructions weren't very helpful, and it's now installed in the hallway, much better than the old one that has been dismantled and binned. Tbf, it was ancient and doesn't owe me anything. One pair of shoes turfed out and now in the CS bag. Other than that, it was a pottering kind of day with lots of breaks for cuppas, followed by a slothful evening watching TV and a bit of knitting.
Today's main task is to sew the buttons on my winter coat. They're not all loose but I may as well do them all at the same time. The other job on my list is to change the shower curtain. Tea will be gammon (from the freezer) with sprouts, carrots, swede and potatoes, rice pudding for afters. Those cheap Xmas veg are taking a bit of getting through on my own but they're all still good. Other Xmas goodies in the freezer are stuffing balls, profiteroles and pigs in blankets.
@Redcross and @mehefin - It certainly is a whole new ball game when you're on your own. So far I haven't come across anything I can't do but no doubt there will be something at some stage. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. And yes, the rude words do help!
@weenancyinAmerica - I'll happily trade you a rain dance for a thaw dance.
@nannywindow - So sorry you're having a rotten start to the New Year and I hope your GP consultation brings better news.
Stay warm and safe all, hugs where needed or wanted. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Wee Nancy sorry.i didn't see your post last night. Yes any one of us snowed in would happily do a rain dance for you instead. All our news channels have the fires as the main headline and every time I pray they will tell us you'd had much needed rain. Xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10

I will be happy to do a thaw dance. As long as I don't scare any (so far nonexistent) rain away. We don't even have any predicted yet. Just don't want you thawing out too fast and flooding instead.5
