Morning all, another here who is fed up of this cold weather but hopefully if the weather man has it right we should have some warmer weather by Monday. My feeling yucky isn't helping my mood either.
Yesterday I had a call from my surgery and my latest scan results are back so now I have an appointment with a GP on the 22nd to discuss it. Probably something else to add to my never ending health issue list, 2025 has started well !
I did a load in the wm yesterday which should be dry enough to put away today then I'm going to chase the dust about and put the hoover round upstairs. I also have some potatoes which need cooking, I don't want to throw them away so I must decide what to make with them. Big decision that !
Take care stay safe and warm everyone.

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10 -
Morning all
We’ve had a slow morning this morning, which was just needed after the first full week back at work. DH has gone to walk the dogs. Today I will potter for a while, do some household jobs and then we’re thinking about doing a date day as DS wants to spend some time with my MiL (they are very close). Not sure what to do with it being cold, and icy… we have a monthly budget for date day so we do have some spends available but this weather is putting me off. We’ve had a very quiet christmas though so would be nice to go out and do something. Will think on that.Breakfast was bacon and egg on toast from supplies I already had in. New 2025 budget ready and raring to go from Wednesday (pay day for me).I hope everyone has a great day despite the poor weather10 -
Morning all
Very frosty here but still no snow I don’t think we will get any now, OH is just making us a late breakfast of bacon and eggs which will be nice, dd left for work at 7 this morning.
Housework to do today and then get the dogs out for a good run, not sure about dinner tonight will go and have a rummage after this.
Take care those of you with snow xx
Have good days all and take care xx8 -
Morning all. Yet another freezing day, top temperatures forecast to be 0 C and overnight of -4 C. We had a hard frost overnight again so, even though it's sunny, this snow will be going nowhere until the thaw comes next week. Much as I'd like to, there's no chance of me going out soon - the pavements are lethal and I'm not risking walking on the road.
Yesterday afternoon I rang the Council about the water ingress and there is a record of my previous conversation with them but it appears the Response Repair Team haven't responded (!!) so they will be chased up. For now it's back to waiting for them to get in touch.
My parcel (new shoe rack) arrived so assembling it is today's challenge job. I used up some bits lurking in the fridge to make salmon fishcakes (tinned salmon, chickpeas, red pepper and mash), 8 in all. I had 2 for tea last night with braised red cabbage and side salad and froze the other 6. I made a SC rice pudding with what was left of the LL milk, that's afters sorted for a few days. The Xmas mince pies have all gone so I'll raid the baking cupboard to see what I can make for the cake tin. Tonight's tea is a beef stir fry with noodles.
Because I haven't been able to get out, I haven't got a TV guide for the coming week so will have to look online to see what's on. I don't suppose the offerings will be much different to any other week and last week's issue will give me a rough idea anyway. If all else fails, I have plenty of books to read and there's always some knitting on the go.
Enjoy the weekend if you can, I think we'll all be glad to get back to normal! Stay safe and take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.8 -
Good afternoon everyone
Haven't posted for a while, given the weather I've joined the ranks of the stayer inners, pavements are so slippy it's not worth taking a chance.
I woke up to a gurgling boiler this morning so I had to venture out armed with a kettle of warm water to defrost my condensate pipe. Hopefully it's done the trick. I can't believe I know what a condensate pipe is ( thank you Google and you tube). Being on my own is a whole new learning curve.
So nothing much planned for the rest of the day, another cuppa is next on the agenda followed by feet up and some catch up tv I think.
Thinking of the sad, lonely and the poorlies.
Take care x9 -
Good evening from Mehefinland
Well a mixed bag of weather here, but the sun has shown its face today for a bit. It makes such a difference to your mood. First time this week I haven't needed to break ice on the water tanks so it must be a little warmer, although it doesn't feel like it. @IzzyBee I keep a hammer in the barn for this sort of job!!
Had the farrier today to do all three. I was absolutely frozen by the time he had finished - he was warm enough as he was working, but it was penetrating standing there holding the head collar. Took me most of the afternoon to thaw out.
Decluttered a lot of rude words at the car as it decided it was too cold to start this afternoon. Its a diesel and they are battery hungry when its cold, and I hadn't been out in it since Monday. I blame all the sensors that are always on and you can't switch off -just drains the battery Currently on a charger on the drive, so I had better check it before bed time. At least it is dry tonight currently. I was only going to get a few bits and bobs from the local co-op, and drop off a big bag of soft plastics. It can wait.
I hate curtain rails!! The bathroom one is an old 'swish' type with the plastic runners with little loops on the bottom, and it decided to break off this morning. Cue more rude words ( there is a theme here!!) , so I took the opportunity to bung the curtains in the wash whilst I figured out a way to fix it. It ain't easy reaching over the loo and bath ,in fact definitely precarious. Anyway, they are dried and back on albeit a bit 'bodgit and scarper'. Will have to investigate alternatives when its warmed up a bit as I don't want to slip and fall now I'm on my own. It's these little nuisances that bring it home to you, in the same way as I have no guaranteed back up with the horses if I ever fall ill or get injured. I appreciate I am not alone in this, but sometimes it is those things you have always done without a second thought which catch you out.
On a positive note, I noticed my neighbour's narcissi are budding up already - I think mine are still asleep! And my friend clipped her dog and the wrens were there like a shot taking the clippings. They are starting early!
Hugs and spoons as always.

TA - Can you do a rain dance for California - and we'll try a thaw dance for you. We have had 1/16th of an inch of rain -since 1 July! Not even 1/8th of an inch. Desparation is here.5
