Buying a property with a swimming pool next door

I am in the process of purchasing a property, however the neighbours have a swimming pool installed.

Does this mean I am within 400m of a body of water for the purposes of our home insurance? It's a question that is asked in most comparison sites,  - I'd welcome anyones's considered opinion.

Also, any other risks with buying a house with a swimming pool next door.

Thanks

No, you are not near a body of water. However, do check with your insurance provider.

We had a neighbour with a pool, and it was no problem.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

"body of water" means lake, sea, ocean etc.  Usually natural.  It is all to do with flood risk.

If there are children in the house, it could get pretty noisy in the Summer, especially if all their mates come round.

On the other hand if you get on well with them, they might let you have a dip in it .

If you have your own children (or visitors) you might consider the risk of them exploring next door and falling in.

Make friends with your neighbours and get invited to the pool parties...

Family members lived near a house with a pool and as ,mentioned there was quite a lot of noise in the summer. As the pool was behind the garden the neighbours weren't even near enough to make friends with in the hopes of being invited to share !

You might consider bringing your children up to respect other people’s property.

Not too bothered about the kids screaming. I was just concerned about the body of water and insurance.

A kids trampoline in the garden would be worse than a pool IMHO.
