British Airways passenger? Check if you have an old Covid voucher

If you had a British Airways (BA) flight or holiday disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic and you accepted a voucher instead of a cash refund, you'll need to use it to travel before the end of September 2025 – or risk losing it. Below we explain how to check if you've got any vouchers and how to use them.

  • I have been contacting BA about my voucher for years, but more recently in last few weeks as I have a holiday planned.

My voucher code has never worked on their online checker tool and when I have rung them in previous years they have told just to wait as they have had changed their policy to be a refund instead of a voucher during 2023 and 2024. At first I was promised a refund by September 2023, this then changed to September 2024.

They have since changed their mind again and made it into a voucher to be used by sept 2025, but this is ridiculous after making it impossible to use the voucher for 2 years while BA promised a refund.

I am now being told that my voucher is not usable as they "purged" my flight booking from their system and I have been promised that it would have be found and reactive within 24 hours by 3 different agents at BA over he last two weeks, but this has still not happened after this time has passed and I have had none of the call backs promised.

Another agent told me that all of my flight details were wrong and that I was issued a refund for the incorrect value and to a card that wasn't mine before the flight was even cancelled and when I queried these details, I was told that he could not see it anymore and asked me to put the phone down and look into it on my end.

I have also had two online queries regarding this closed by BA with no reply even with the emailed proof of booking and voucher attached.

How many people have they done this to? They have made the vouchers impossible to use for 2 years under the guise of a promised refund and now they're making it impossible to actually use the voucher within the time limit they have reinstated as they have "purged" it from their system. How many people have they done this to and how much money are they sitting on?
