Has anyone got any idea how to reclaim my money back from a holiday comlpany , I originally booked it through a comparison website and was given the price over the phone to which I agreed , I was then passed to another company for the confirmation after the first agreed cost I paid the deposit , 15 mins later I get a email with a totally different amount from the one I was quoted and was happy to book , on receiving the email there is no booking ref only a flight number and hotel no reservation ref etc , I have since contacted the flight company and hotel and no booking exists has anyone got any advice please , I think I have been scammed ? Thanks in advance

Which company have you booked with?

How long was it between paying your deposit and you checking with the airline and hotel?  Such bookings aren't always made immediately and lack of them doesn't necessarily indicate a scam....

    How did you pay?

Which comparison website? Which holiday company? Where did the original contact come from?

If you only paid yesterday then the lack of a confirmed airline booking today doesn't signify a scam (there was another recent thread about another company where the time to confirmation was 72 hours), especially if they're still looking to confirm passenger details across multiple companies.  It might be a mistake to send them any more money at this stage, but it would be premature to try to back out now IMHO, and you probably wouldn't get any money back anyway, so stick with it and seek reassurance from them....

There’s just alarm bells after I’ve read some reviews online I see  this has happened to other people where they have given them the benefit of the doubt and when arriving at the hotel and told there’s no reservation or just before departure an email saying that there is no availability at the hotel ,,surely if you book provisionally as they are saying then the hotel and flight must know about you even just dates your provisionally booked for because if not then they could quite easy sell there flight and hotel to someone on another comparison site hence why they might be fully booked on arrival , the company is a joke to be honest should not be trading

If you want the certainty of immediate confirmation on booking then do so via the airline and hotel directly, but if you're going to book via cheap'n'cheerful bucket shops then it's best to understand and accept the lower service level they entail.

And for the avoidance of doubt I'm not suggesting that you happily accept vague assurances right up to the point of departure, but simply that if you only booked yesterday then there isn't any reason to panic yet, and, apart from anything else, you wouldn't be entitled to a refund anyway so there's no obvious upside in cancelling on the basis of reading some poor reviews.  Again, if you want the protection of being able to reclaim money for non-delivery then bank transfer isn't the way to pay....

Was that your choice, or their request..?

Have you answered them?  If you have not responded to the Operator who it seems are seeking confirmation of passengers then I doubt they are booking flights and other travel arrangements until you do. You may be holding up the process.
