Good morning, thanks for starting Gers, yes, it's chilly here as well, with a heavy frost.
I haven't read back on yesterday, so I hope everyone is ok.
DH received a letter yesterday with an appointment next month to see the oncology team at the Freeman hospital in Newcastle, so that's another step forward towards him starting radiotherapy.
Not much going on today, just housework
Thinking of our sad and poorly people, take care folks, keep warm.16 -
Morning GERS and all to follow. Which do I believe, one weather report says its minus 11 here, another says minus 6. Whichever it is it's b......y cold!!
So it's Day 6 of same old same old. Frozen snow still with us and no sign of any thaw going on today. But wow we are set to reach the dizzy heights of 0 deg this afternoon! So another housebound day but come Monday they say it will start to get a bit warmer and on Tuesday 10 deg!! But all things considered I am grateful to be living here and not LA.
Yesterday's excitement was cleaning the kitchen and bathroom. And I even cleaned the oven! It wasn't bad as I rarely use if these days, it's air fryer, slow cooker or mw mostly. I should have cleaned the dishwasher too but that waits for another day. Today it's the Friday Tidy so it's dust and vac up, down and all around.
Have a good day if you can folks and ((HUGS)) for our poodlies, sad or lonely. Take care all, stay safe and warm. xx

I've braved leaving my lovely cosy bed, got sorted, dressed and downstairs. Although it's bitterly cold it doesn't seem as bad as Wednesday or Thursday. The ear procedure yesterday was surprisingly simple and quick - I say surprisingly as this was the first time I've had it done so everything was interesting. The technician showed me the insides of both my ears which clearly showed a lump of wax in my troublesome right ear and just bits and pieces in the hearing aid left ear. I opted to have both done to keep me 'balanced'. The 'whoosh' of clearance in the right ear was remarkable. Anyway, I was delighted by it all and, hopefully, won't need it again.I detoured into M&S on the way home to pick up fresh fruit, veggies and some chicken breasts. After cooking the whole chicken the other week I'm not going to do that again - I really don't like doing the stripping of the carcass and then dealing with it for stock. Sorry MSE!Today my plan has already changed as the friend I was meeting has called off as her car has nearly bald tyres, got stuck yesterday and now needs to sort it out ASAP. I'm just as happy to stay indoors in this chilly day. My indoor logs store is full (two Ikea bags) and my fridge is also full. There's a couple of chores which could be done if I get boredI hope that everyone is surviving well, animals safe and little ones all warm. Us oldies need to keep warm too. Hugs to all.14

Cold here too with a very heavy frost on top of some still lying snow sprinkles. Gorgeous sunrise though.DDad now discharged from the physio with brownie points all round for his hard work (and to us for nagging him to do his exercises).Today Bdog has a haircut so I think he’ll need a coat to come home in cos he’ll feel the difference. I’ll pop to the local town and the loveiy butchers while he’s there and stock up on meat and sausages.Just some more craft work for the rest of the day plus some chores I guess (would rather do the former!)
take care all and best wishes for all.

Good morning all.
-5 outside, with a heavy frost. I really need to go to the supermarket today as we've run out of fruit and bread. Milk is getting low but thanks to others on here for the idea, we have a couple of long life cartons. I was hoping to make it to Monday, but really need supplies. Will let Dh drive if so.
I haven't heard anything from my uncle or brother, maybe no news is good news. I'll try to contact them today to see what's happening.
No idea what's for dinner. If we go out I may get something fresh as I'm getting fed up of freezer diving.
Take care if you're going out, keep warm and safe. Hugs to our poorlies.14 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers. Glad to hear the procedure went well x
Nowt worse than snow on top of already frozen snow. Stay home stay safe everyone 🥶
I went to the local WI yesterday. Not the group activity they’d planned due to half the contingent unable to attend due to colds/the weather. We had a good chat and a cuppa though and I won a raffle prize so all good! I walked into the town afterwards for a card and some wool. Managed to knit half s teacosy last night which kept me busy!
Glad to hear your DH doesn’t have to wait long for the next step @ScarletRibbons x
Well done to your Dad @AlwaysAllie x
We have a friend visiting this afternoon so it’s tidy up time this morning. DS2 is returning to uni too, so a busy day. Mexicana mince for tea.Have a good day all.CoxyCross-stitch WIP: HSC Jingle Bells Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 05/25 Currently reading The last letter from your lover by Jojo Moyes15 -

Hard frost here this morning as well and a chance of sleet / snow showers this afternoon, DD has just got in from a night shift so will have breakfast and then she will go to bed.
I am off to get my nails done this morning I will go for a dark colour as it seems to suit me more, when I get back I will give the dogs a walk and then come home for a rest I did not sleep well again so feel a bit jaded.
Dinner tonight will be salmon and prawn pasta, I have bought some coconut cream to try and make it Thai flavoured will make it up as I go along and hope for the best.
The fire will be lit as soon as I am back it’s far too cold without it.
Have good days all and take care xx13 -
Hi everyone,
I've not been getting time to post, just about managing to read. Laura is recovering slowly so there is a lot to do.
Esben went to the pantomime with school yesterday, they were late back and all the parents etc were kept waiting in the cold for an hour. I had said to Brian that I'd never known a school trip to be back on time but I still stood there with all the rest. One poor mother had an 18 month old and a young baby with her.
Esther is supposed to be doing a third day at nursery today but we're taking it slowly, she cried all the way there yesterday. She hates leaving home.
I'm going to make a chilli today and a pork casserole in the slow cooker. I'm very tempted by one of those multi-cookers so that I can get rid of the pressure cooker and slow cooker.
Have a good day.

Morning all. We had a very heavy frost last night but at least the sun is shining now.
My back's still a bit sore so I'll just potter today. I have a cake to make for a friend who lent me her melodeon last month so I'll make one for us as well. A bit of ironing to do and then DH is booked in for his RSV jab this afternoon.
Tonight we'll be finishing up the chicken soup from earlier in the week, with maybe bacon and egg for lunch. The air fryer is still in daily use and will do some part baked rolls in it today, to go with the soup.
Keep warm everyone and hugs for the poodles.

Morning all
Just a quickie as I need to go down to mam and dads to do his banking before work. Still very cold and frosty but apparently it's going to be a lot milder next week.
I have little one coming for a sleepover tonight, after school, we might go into town to the library tomorrow morning.
Snoozer, you'd think they would have let parents wait inside school in the warm.
Hope everyone has a good day x13
