Pc has no USB port, so how do I transfer?

I have the use of a PC in one house (no internet connection but has a printer) and a laptop in another (no printer). I would like to print some stuff out from the laptop, preferably by saving the material to a USB pen drive and transferring it to the PC. This would be easier than carting a laptop around.

But whether I use a pen drive or take the laptop I still have the problem of the PC having no USB ports. Is there an adaptor available for the PC? or would an ethernet to ethernet connection (laptop has this, not sure about PC :o ) be possible/the best solution? Then theres bluetooth, I have a dongle for the laptop but don't they all connect via USB ? Suppose a laptop to PC connection may be best if you wanted to transfer some "bulky" software, as a pen drive wouldn't have enough space? In the past I've copied to a cd and printed off that (cumbersome, yes).

Any solutions for, as you can tell, a computer layman. Thanks.

You could always buy and fit USB card to your PC. As long as your PC has a spare PCI slot and is running Win 98 or higher then it shouldn't be a problem.

If your PC has an Ethernet socket then all you need is an Ethernet (aka RJ-45) CROSSOVER cable to connect it to the laptop. If your PC and laptop are not set up for networking currently then you will need to do a bit of installing but that shouldn't be a problem so long as you have your original Windows CDs.
  • A PCI ethernet card costs less than £3 to go in a spare PCI slot and a 1m crossover cable would cost £1

Create a small local network and you can transfer as much you want
  • Both good suggestions. Thanx.

Think the one below is simplest solution:
