ESA support to Universal Credit Migration worry

Options
Just the other day I received my UC migration letter, going from ESA Support group. And my nerves/OCD are a wreck. I had to have help from my family to fill it in online. And one of the questions was how much I had in my bank. Telling the truth I put around £6600 but reading online so many people say that anything over 6000 is bad.  I'm worried I've done something wrong? Also checking bank statements, they may need 3 - 4 months?     I never knew this was coming up, but living on my own, I rarely go out and I spend more time in deep depression so it does at times go over 6000.

Please tell me I've done nothing wrong?  Family says it will be fine stop worrying, but this is part of my mental health problems.

I'm also on PIP too because of all my health and mental problems. Of which I wont go into.

Also forgot to put in, checking the UC control panel all it says at this time is "What happens next
On 31st February 2025 we will tell you how much you are going to get."

Having more than £6000 is savings is not bad. It's not bad from a benefits perspective or from your own point of view. Having a good amount of savings gives you financial resilience. However, when you have more than £6000 in savings, your UC will be reduced to reflect the interest that the DWP expect you will be earning on your savings.

You have done the correct thing in telling them what your current level of savings are. You should update them just before the end of each assessment period with a new figure for your savings so that they can calculate your UC amount correcly. You can save yourself the hassle of this if you can keep your savings to just under £6000, e.g. by spending money to repay any debts (or just paying bills the moment they become due).

You are probably aware that your level of savings has no effect on PIP. It's only relevant to Universal Credit.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Thank you Tacpot12. I've been feeling sick about this for the last couple of days, and struggling to eat in worry. I'm hoping that now UC are aware of my savings, it will reflect how much I'm paid. Also the fact I'll be coming off EA support group anyway.

Don't worry about your bank statements - if you need them, the bank is usually happy to help out if they don't have an option to download them as PDFs in your online account. I also had a similar worry as you with money, and the work coach that's helping me deal with the migration said it isn't something they're worried about or look for.
