Amazon con?

Options
Bought an item in the Amazon.co.uk Black Friday sales. After ordering delivery slipped to 8th Jan. Item was £200+ cheaper so just accepted I may have to wait for a bargain. Since then it has been, and still is, on sale by the same seller, Amazon, at the much higher price. Delivery date came and went and discussions with CS went as you'd expect with little info and lots of offers to cancel my order 'if it helps'.

Clearly I don't want to cancel my order. Payment in full was taken on 1st December by Amazon and I want my bargain.

Do I have any rights to force any action from them?

Was this from Amazon or a marketplace seller?

Happened to me once on Amazon with a bargin item. Eventually Amazon just deleted the order history for the item as if it never existed and never told me they done this.
However i was never out any money.
Screenshot the order history if you wish to pursue, but probably still not much use.

Do they? Usually they charge my card as soon as I press "Confirm Order".

For items in stock they seem to take payment within a few minutes as that is when they start the dispatch process, when I have pre-ordered items, or ordered items that are out of stock then they do not charge immediately.

Charge your card, I take it you mean authorise the payment. Not actually debit your account till dispatched.

  • I used Amazon gift vouchers for about £350 and paid the remaining balance with a debit card (about £30), both were taken immediately hence my thoughts were that they've entered into a binding contract.

They've had my money now for over a month, surely this has some pull?

No, it doesn't.  They could just cancel the order and refund you.
