Hi All,
I have previously scoured these forums, as well as gone through the newbie section to try and find a similar situation to me but to no avail, hence creating this thread.

So a couple of months ago, I went to pick up my mother in law from Coventry rail station and I was in a hurry to return home as I had a sick toddler at the time, so instead of the long winded free parking, I waited a bit outside and then whacked in to this “Eaton house” parking lot. It was 7pm, no one working and looked like a derelict building about to be demolished. I was there for 6 minutes in total.
I got a PCN in the post saying I didn’t have a permit to park there. So I appealed and got rejected.
I can share the excerpt from the appeal below:
Thank you for your recent communication concerning the above Parking Charge. Our Appeals Manager has personally reviewed this case and has carefully considered the appeal by reviewing the various factors involved. Their view, however, is that the Parking Charge is neither unreasonable nor unjust and so we will not be waiving this parking charge.
The car park in which the vehicle had been parked operates as a permit holder only car park. It is not a drop off or pick up area. There are clear signs informing all drivers they must have a valid permit registered to the vehicle to park on this site. It is the drivers sole responsibility to ensure they are familiarising themselves with the signs and adhering to the terms and conditions stated within them. As you can see from the photographic evidence, the vehicle arrived onsite at 19:01:03, the vehicle parked up and the driver exited at 19:02:17, the driver walked offsite at 19:02:29, the driver walked back onsite with a passenger at 19:06:32, the driver and passenger arrived at the vehicle at 19:06:38, the vehicle drove offsite at 19:07:57. As the driver ignored the terms and conditions stated within the abundance of signs and parked in a permit holder only car park without having a valid permit registered to the vehicle, this parking charge has been issued correctly and must now be paid. Please be advised that all photographic evidence can be viewed by typing: pay.theukps.com in to your top address browser.
I was so annoyed I left it all and now started received debt collector letters. I’ve been away overseas for a month and now apparently given a “last warning” letter - I’ll attach it here.

Could I get some advice on how to proceed? Am I in the wrong here and should I have just paid the fine?

Ignore debt collectors letters
Check that your V5c log book is up to date with your correct address for the service of papers
Email the DPO at UKPS with the correct address, plus the dpo at Trace too if necessary
Do not pay
Once you have checked your paperwork and informed everyone, study the newbies sticky thread in announcements by coupon mad, especially posts 4 & 2
There is no fine , just an outstanding invoice

Ignore the parking firm and all Trace letters. This isn't a "last warning" LOL!Only steps to take:
- Tell them if you move house within 6 years.
- Ignore the tedious £170 threatograms shown in pictures in the 4th post of the NEWBIES thread. Trace are just debt crawlers. Not bailiffs, nobody comes knocking and no CCJ is risked.
- Come back if you get a LBC as per the 2nd post of the NEWBIES thread.
There is no risk in defending a claim. But more likely nothing will happen. UKPS Ltd are NOT known for litigation.
However if you are often overseas you must have someone opening your post in your absence, at leaat weekly. Someone not silly enough to panic about daft threatograms but trusted enough to show you any letters.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
