Hi Guys,
I'm really hoping someone can help please. I have booked to go to the USA next year and I know we have to ASAB but I don't know whether I should be buying an annual policy for the next 2 years or whether I am covered for the one trip that we are making? Sorry if this sounds silly.

A single trip policy would do but if you're doing a lot of shorter trips before going to the US then an annual policy might work out better value.

We won't be doing any other trips at all, we will be spending 31 days in Florida in September next year, will I be able to get quotes this soon do you think?0

That could be your problem! I think you can only normally buy travel insurance one year in advance...but that's normally fine as you generally can't book flights more than a year in advance. What have you booked for your USA holiday? What do you think might happen in 2025 that would make you be unable to take your holiday in 2026?I have paid deposits on a holiday in 2026. If I suffer redundancy, accident, illness, bereavement this year it's highly unlikely to affect me in 2026. In the worst case I'll lose my deposit but that really is the worst case. I haven't booked flight yet (they're not on sale) and hotels tend to be accommodating when it comes to moving bookings. If the holiday provider goes bust I know I'll get my money back fro my credit card company

Most insures won't go 19 months out but on the basis you've booked it already then its not a DIY booking (airlines dont open up flights that early) so presumably at the moment you've only paid a deposit? At the moment only the deposit is at risk?0 -
It's not true that airlines don't open flights more than 12 months in advance. We booked flights in May 2023 for a holiday in September 2024. I can also see, and potentially book, flights for the summer of 2026 with at least 2 airlines.

I only mention airlines booking to say it suggests it's a package holiday. Jet2 are variable between 12-18 months, according to MSE, not aware of others that are over 18 months but its not that relevant just the basis of an assumption.0
