Budget Car isurance & Avon DD

Can anyone advise me?
I had an isurance policy 2011 with Budget insurance, I have just discovered in my bank statement a DD for personal life insurance at £4 per month .... I contacted Avon and asked why this did not cease at the end of  2012, they explained that I had the oppertunity  to cease the policy at any time. They stated I would have been informed by post.
I have been paying for tis policy from 2012 -2025 !! Im told thers nothing they will do, its upto me to contact them . 12months x 12 years x £4 = £576
I moved home in 2021 and was working abroard from 2012 -2021 !

Anyone advise?

I'm not clear on the connection between the Budget car insurance and the Avon Life insurance, never heard of having to take out life insurance when insuring a car.

From Avon's perspective you could have made a claim at any point, you can't retrospectively ask for a refund because you didn't claim.

Avon dont sell Life Insurance, they only sell Personal Accident (inc Accidental Death)

So having to guess here... I'm assuming you bought car insurance from Budget and they cross sold an "enhanced Personal Accident" coverage.

How did you stop the Car Insurance? Did you receive seperate renewals for the car insurance and the PA?

The death benefit (as its not life assurance), will be a standalone plan.  Cancelling the car insurance would not cancel the death benefit.

It is your responsibility to reconcile your bank account and decide what things you no longer want.  You have had 144 bank statements to reconcile and spot this.     If it carried on being paid a few months or even a year after the event, you have some credibility.   However, as time goes on, that credibility is lost and 12 year and 144 statements later, there isn't any credibility.   It just looks like you haven't claimed and are trying to get your money back.    So, there is no reason for them to consider refunding.
