Issues with Santander CC payment collection

Hi
This month I (stupidly) didn’t have enough money in my Chase account to pay my Santander credit card direct debit payment. Chase sent me two texts saying I had insufficient funds to pay it.

So I transferred money from my Chase account to my Santander savings account to pay the credit card through Faster Payments.

The direct debit still keeps trying to go through from the Chase end. I have spoke to them
And they said to speak to Santander. The money has not gone out of my Chase account but it says on Santander that it has gone out through DD and faster payments. Chase assured me it has not gone out twice.

I spoke to Santander and they said I have to go through Chase.

i’m just getting worried now that this is going to affect my credit score as it is a direct debit payment not being paid. Even though I paid it manually. Can someone advise please I just want to cancel the DD for this month but don't know what to do as the banks keep bouncing back to contact the other.

Problem should sort itself out.  If the diret debits gets taken now that you've manually paid, you'll get your money back

If there is insufficient funds to pay a DD just transfer funds to the account it is being paid from. It will be claimed again.

Making the payment via other means does not stop the DD process, as it is automated.
So you should get a unpaid marker against the DD (it a fact it was not paid)

If it does still claim the DD then you would have to ask Santander to refund it. But they would be within their rights not to.
