Morning all. Bloomin' cold this morning so I haven't really got going yet. Need to get a move on as DGS is due here in a while.
Even the Community Larder was a bit low on merchandise yesterday; must be a slow week for moving things on. We, in the meantime, as still testing out the air fryer and cooked some more chilled pain au chocolat in it yesterday. They were ok but nothing special. Have defrosted a small piece of beef short rib to go in the slow cooker today, as we need to eat and go out promptly later on.
Yesterday was DH's birthday so we went for lunch at the Sky Bar at a newish hotel in MK. It's 14 floors up so you get great views and it wasn't particularly busy. They still managed to lose our lunch order though! I had to chase it up as we'd been sitting there for ages and apparently it hadn't gone through their system as they'd had a short lived glitch. They brought us another round of drinks for free but we'd have rather had the food.
Better get a move on now. Hope everyone's day goes well.13 -
Good morning all
-5 outside here, and Jack Frost is about. I didn't get on here yesterday. I had a bad night's sleep then went off until 8.30. I just couldn't seem to get going after that.
I received a strange text from my uncle last night (he's 91).. He said he had been trying to ring another aunt but her phone had been cut off. As I haven't heard from this aunt for a few years I didn't know anything. As you can guess our family isn't very close. I suggested he contact my cousin (aunt's son), or maybe my brother could help. He said he had tried ringing them out they weren't replying. I tried my brother and also got no reply. Very strange. Will see what today brings.
Weenancy, your fires are horrific and brutal, I feel for everyone caught up in them. Stay safe.
Everyone here stay warm and safe (how daft does that sound, two extremes). The temperatures are set to rise next week.
Take care all, and hugs to our poorlies.

Good morning all
Thank you for the start @Gers
Awake at silly o'clock. Seems a little warm this morning, no ice on the pond.
Going on the walk later this morning, think I'll be doing my usual Michelin man impression.
Take care
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.13 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x
A dusting of snow for us last night and cold, but nothing like our friends in the North. Just listening to the fire reports from California - so awful. Glad to know you are safe @weenancyinAmerica - sounds like you have your hands full with your housemates and work.
I’m going for a taster session at a local WI this morning. Then will pop along to the town for a birthday card and some wool. I’m putting together a photobook for DS2’s 21st so there’s that to sort this afternoon too.SIL is being discharged from hospital and will become an inpatient at a MH facility - expected to be there for at least 3-4 weeks. Sad for her but hoping they will provide the support she needs.Glad that it wasn’t anything more serious @camelot1001
Annoying about the food @WickedLady4 but hope DH had a good day x
Have a good day everyone - stay safe and hugs to all the poorly folk xx

Morning everyone
Still very cold and frosty here when I went out to the bin. I picked little one up from school and had a nice couple of hours with her yesterday. When I came home I put the last two of my new chairs together - I'm really pleased with them.
I also booked my flights to Marrakesh in the Easter holidays and the Premier Inn at Newcastle airport the night before as it was only £44! Unfortunately it's a 6am flight. Now we just need to decide which Riad to stay in...I've got it down to a shortlist of 10 on Booking.com and sent them to DD to look at. I love having a holiday booked, especially when it's cold here.
So I'd better get on and tidy a bit, as little one will be here for a sleepover tomorrow night and I've been very distracted by looking for places to stay in Marrakech.
Her bed is covered by my bargains from the Card Factory yesterday - Christmas wrapping paper, cards and gift bags all reduced to 70/ off. I also got a few things in The Works sale too, including my nephews birthday present for April.
Camelot glad your news was better than it could have been
Weenancy take care x
Hope everyone has a good day. Be careful if you have to go out x13 -
Morning all from frosty mehefinland
not posted for a few days as not much been 'occurin'. Blooming cold today and the rain which fell last night had frozen on everything. had to blow on the locks to get into the horses this morning. Glad it was still darkish as anyone passing by would have had some very strange thoughts!! Even the water bottle lid was frozen on in the barn, although the buckets were clear.
Scoobymare is in season ( she's nearly27 and its January!!!) and is being her usual embarrassing self. The boy is more interested in finding something to eat in the frozen grass, although I did hear a few squeals whilst mucking out , so he must be a bit too closet o her. Oh, the joys of keeping horses. They had stable rugs on last night - I have no idea what he had been doing but his rug looks like a disaster area - I will let the deposits dry off and then give it a good brush later. It has to go back on tonight as we have another very cold night forecast.
Been pootling along clearing bits n bobs but nothing major.
Hugs and spoons as always

Morning all, nothing much happening here at present, just feeling a bit sorry for myself after another night of coughing and sneezing. Today I have lost my voice and I may have inadvertently given this lurgy to Mr Fix It too, ooops.
The sun is out and it's another freezing cold day but I have no plans to go anywhere.
I finished The Brokenwood Mysteries series yesterday so I'm looking for my next fix. I did watch La Palma, only 4 episodes and enjoyed that too.
Camelot hope your "stones" can be fixed quickly for you.
Weenancy stay safe and as usual you have a lot going on in your house, hugs.
Keep safe if you have to go out. Have a good day everyone.
nan xx

Morning all, a balmy -3 here, the birds and squirrels are busy fighting for food on the bird table. A bit more snow during the night. Dear pooch needed to go out at 4.30 so feeling a bit bogeyed today. When I took her across the road, there was a beep from the main road,DS2 and DGS on the way to school,DGS waving madly- brightened the start to my day! Have to pick him up later. TA 2 bins were emptied yesterday, I went out to thank them, must be a horrible job when it's so icy, and well done to our milk lady too! We did get some grit from bee&q so did the road and pavement outside. Such a contrast between us & where you are @weenancyinAmerica . We have friends in California, hope they are ok.Tea is going to be a turkey and ham pie ( freezer leftovers)DH says the DPF filter is full and needs a good run, as there have only been school runs etc. not long enough to clear it - I might get him to drop me off at the retail park.Stay safe everyone!:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all
We had some snow yesterday 😬 only for a few hours and it did not settle as the ground was too wet but it was nice to see for a while.
I picked Rob up yesterday and took him to work we were only there an hour or so when he had a bad upset tummy 💩 I took him and his bag to the loo only to discover that there were no wipes in his bag 🙄 he was in a right mess so tidied him up as much as I could and then took him home his mum is keeping him off today so I hope he is ok, I did ask her to make sure there is always wipes in his bag in future.
I went and did my shopping after dropping him off and came home and gave the dogs a quick walk it was bitterly cold and we were all glad to be home with the fire lit.
Dinner tonight will be Kiev chips and peas, dd is doing a waking night tonight so will eat before she goes.
Camelot glad it was nothing worse xxx
Weenancy stay safe xx
Have good days all and take care xx9 -
Morning all. It's another day of bright blue cloudless skies here but the white stuff is going nowhere.
Today's temperatures are forecast to be 1C daytime and -11C overnight. My central heating is working overtime but I'm afraid needs must, I'm glad I have a credit cushion to fall back on. The bin men came yesterday but missed ours and I'm guessing that was because they can't get up our hill because the road hasn't been gritted. On a better note, the lurgy seems to be on its way out - my sore throat has gone, I'm not coughing during the day (still a bit at night) and I'm sleeping better. Either that or the hibernation instinct has kicked in!
I didn't get the kitchen base cupboards cleaning finished yesterday after all because DS called in with some shopping essentials for me and we had a coffee and a chat. After he'd gone I'd lost the cleaning urge and curled up on the sofa with a book instead. Never mind, there's always today.
Sainsburys have produced a breakdown of my shopping habits over the last 12 months, makes for interesting reading. Apparently the 3 items I buy most from them are milk, tinned tomatoes and baked beans. I've saved £194.98 by taking advantage of Nectar prices and have earned £63.61 in points. A % breakdown of the different categories of food shopping seems to be fairly well balanced although the Sweet Treats might benefit from a bit of pruning! If they do it again next year I imagine it will look very different now I'm shopping for just me.
@weenancyinAmerica - I've been following the news from California and it sounds/looks horrendous. Prayers you and yours can stay safe.
@WickedLady4 - Belated birthday wishes for your DH.
@remmie - That's a strange text from your uncle, I hope you get to the bottom of it.
@camelot1001 - Glad you now know about the stones and hope it can be fixed quickly.
@Coxy11 - Pleased to hear your SiL is being discharged, obviously still a worry for you though.
@dp1 - Marrakech, something to look forward to!
@mehefin - Nothing much occurs here either, but you'll soon become fluent in waffle if you stick with us!
@nannywindow - Commiserations on the lurgy, it really knocks the stuffing out of you.
Have a good day, stay safe and warm, hugs where needed or wanted. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11
