No warranty on 4 month old microwave?

Lots of interesting comments thank you. It was brand new in a sealed box and I bought from a local kitchen and bathroom installer.
what is my best way forward now?0 -
What's wrong with it?
If it has just suddenly stopped dead, the most likely reason is that the slow-blow fuse has blown. Not really a fault, it's designed to do that in the event of a mains power spike etc. to protect the circuitry.
Some people believe this is more likely to happen if you open the door while cooking without switching off first.
Easily fixed by a competent repair shop. The fuse itself costs a pound or two.
The above is nothing to do with consumer rights and arguing with a reluctant seller, but it might be the best solution.0 -
IMO it is the magnetron that is faulty. It switches on and the fan works but does not heat food. I took the case off and there are two overheat thermal sensors but both are OK I also checked the various internal connections.0

I think I would go back to the seller and say:
1. This was sold as a new item in sealed box. I have rights under consumer legislation, and I will sue you if I have to. If I do that, I'll be suing for the cost of a new machine. With court costs, that will cost you nearly £500.
2. But, let's not do that. The manufacturer will fix it under warranty, provided you give me a receipt. I understand you don't want to, but you don't want to be sued for £500 either, do you?
BTW, will the manufacturers offer a paid-for repair, and how much would that be?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?2
