Car refund entiltment

I had recently bought a used car from a dealer but there had been issues with it so I have asked to send it back under the consumer rights act 2015, the company have accepted this and are will to give me back the money I spent, less the deposit I paid.

Are they entitled to keep the deposit that I paid to hold the vehicle and am I entitled to any compensation for fuelling, insuring and taxing a car that I can't/couldn't use because it was in a workshop being fixed for issues that I had been told that were fixed?

Thanks in advance.

They are not allowed to keep the deposit, but they can charge you £0.45 per mile for the miles you drove whilst you had the car. You are not entitled to compensation but they may be willing to offer a gesture of good will.

Deposits they should refund you, there's also something called a Reservation Fee which Dealers use to hold the vehicle and they almost never want to refund it. Check your paperwork to see, they start usually at 99 pound. Definitely make them aware of the costs you've incurred but it's unlikely you'll get much back it may be Goodwill as someone else suggested, or a discount off another vehicle (but that would be with them lol).
