Child benefit question

Hi all
Apologies if this is the wrong forum but grateful for any advice/guidance
If both parents are working, one earns 60k+ and the other below, can the parent earning the lower salary claim Child Benefit without incurring higher income liability? Both parents live together and have shared parental responsibility.
Thanks in advance,
Basil

In a word 'no'. Any parent earns over £60k the charge is due.1

Anyone can claim but tax will still be paid based on the higher earner salary - £60k = 0%, £70k = 50%, £80k = 100%.
% of child benefit received.1
