Judgement for claimant - in default - next steps advice

Hey
Thanks in advance for any help amd answering my questions.
I recieved a claim for 22 November 2024.
I used money claim online to complete acknowledgment within 14 days.
Therefore I had 33 days to submit the defence. Deadline 25 December 2024
I submitted the defence 9 days late (3rd Jan 2025 via email) due to illness. I have a sick note from GP for 2 weeks thats covers dates within these 33 days.
I recieved a Judgement for claimant in default dated 31 December 2024.
It says 'you failed to reply to claim form'
1) does this mean my acknowledgment was not submitted correctly or/and my defence not submitted in time
The original total cost was £289. 52. This included £204.52 and £35 court cost and £50 legal representation.
The Judgement for claimant in default has a different number. £206.04 debt and £110 in costs. Total £316.04.
2) why has the total gone up
It says I can set aside the judgement if wish to fight this but need to pay a court fee.
3) how much is this court fee? £303
4) if I set judgement aside, will this fee be refunded if I win the case?
The court fee seems high, and feels I should cut my loses and pay the amount now in full to avoid the CJC.
Advice would be helpful.
Many thanks
M

I'm afraid you have no grounds to set the CCJ aside. Should have done the defence in time and there is no justification to overturn the default judgment. Sorry.
The sum includes the 8% interest and a £27 judgment fee.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

So after making payment in full, requesting receipt, I need to contact the court to cancel the entry on the register.
Is there anything else that needs to take place to ensure no CCJ/affect on credit?
Many thanks0 -
