Is it ever worth paying (private PCN)?

Is it ever worth paying the 14 day discount/bribe in straightforward cases? None of the successful appeals or defences linked on the sticky thread seem to apply including signage. Is the strategy just to cause them excessive use of time and resources so that they hopefully drop the case?

I wouldn't say so because the chances of it going all the way to a court hearing and you losing are extremely small.2

why do people think their cases are always unique they never are2

Never, ever, ever, say these scum PPCs.
They get their money from the naive and gullable, who pay up at the first letter full of lies and half truths.
Scare tactics work, unfortunately.
Easy money for them so they have no need to go to great lengths for those who make it difficult or impossible for them.2 -
One could agree that PPCs are scum who extract a large amount of profit using scare tactics. But it seems absurd to believe that not one of the thousands of cases would stand up if they were motivated enough to contest. It would be a huge scandal if even half of their claims were struck down by a motorist who executes a perfect defense, but it would also imply that in the other half of cases the motorist legally has no leg to stand on. Is it responsible to tell everyone that they are always acting in their best interests by automatically following the aggressive strategy detailed in the sticky thread? For some the difference between ultimately paying for ex. £100 vs £50 is significant. Telling people who come here that they are statistically unlikely to lose (regardless of the details of their case) because the PPCs don't like to waste time pursuing cases with small payoffs would perhaps be a bit more honest. If I've got this wrong and in fact practically any case is winnable by the motorist even if the PPC makes a serious effort to pursue, then set the record straight!0

IMHO practically ever case is winnable.
The overwhelming majority of speculative invoices are flawed in some way.
Or the signage is.2 -
