I just received a £100 fine for parking outside Starbucks on 20th Dec 24. I was in Starbucks for 42mins, I had no idea there was parking restrictions. Tried calling Starbucks a dozen times to try and understand how much time is free? No answer. The Met parking site is no help, they have a customers services page, without and customer services contact, pathetic but not surprised. Does anyone know how long you can park for free ? And is it worth contesting?

Plan A is always best executed face to face if you can get back to the same Starbucks (careful where you park) otherwise follow the rest of the advice in the NEWBIE sticky - you know where it is as you have posted your question on it!

MET are not going to cancel the PCN, no profit in it,  its not a fine either,  its an invoice

Get complaining about the PCN to Starbucks,  or the retail park management company,  or the landowner ASAP, plan A

If you had no idea that suggests that the signage is inadequate.
Met Parking are unlikely to be helpful, private parking companies aren't helpful, they only exist to scam people out of money.
No one on here can tell you how long you can park for free without an idea of the site, every car park is different with different terms and conditions, these should be brought to your attention by signage which forms a commercial contract with the driver at the time of parking.
Of course it's worth contesting, why would you pay a scumbag parking company money for being a customer of one of their clients?
Follow the advice on here, read through the"newbies thread" where all the rubbish they get up to is explained.
You don't have a fine you have a speculative invoice from nasty, greedy, arrogant, intransigent dimwits!

thanks everyone… if you pose the question on google about parking charges it says 60mins free for Starbucks and McDonald’s. I managed to talk to McDonald’s and they confirmed 60 mins however if you park at Starbucks and go to mcdonalds you get fined. I’ve seen complaints about this. I am going to Stansted in a couple of weeks time so will question Starbucks, however tomorrow is my last day to appeal. I’m going to do that.

You did not get "fined", you received an invoice, what do you mean you went to McDonalds is the PCN for leaving site rather than time on site?

Also I’ve submitted a mail on Starbucks customer services and contacted watchdog.

Did you Google and watch the Joe Lycett piece on Youtube?  You won't ever be paying this.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
