NPPV 2 Full security and DRO

Hiya,

I think I’m going to have to take a DRO but I have police NPPV 2 full vetting and I’m worried that it will be revoked. My circumstances are that I have gone from a 2 income household to a 1 and I simply cannot make payments. I have spoken with National Debt line and this is their suggestion however I know I have to declare it under change in circumstances but I’m worried I will lose my job making my situation worse…
I have already asked the vetting service and they have said they can’t advise until it it declared.

any advice or experience welcomed please

No I’m not. I work for a charity. I work with people in touch with the justice system.

Try to check whether there are any HR policies you can read on financial difficulties? What do they say?

I assume however that the vetting is done by the police, not by your employer? Can you clarify?

This is the guidance from stepchange:

Can a DRO affect my job?

A DRO may affect your job if your contract says you cannot be insolvent.

This is likely to be an issue in:

    • The finance sector
    • The legal sector

Other jobs can be affected too, but this is not common.

Check your employment contract if you are not sure if you can keep your job with a DRO.

    You can also:

    • Speak to your professional membership body or trade union, or
    • Speak to your HR department confidentially

Find out more about how a DRO can affect you.

Thanks for helping. A DRO will not affect my employment regarding their policies but if I do not have vetting I cannot do my job and therefore will lose my job if I lose my vetting. A DRO will affect my vetting and I do have to declare it but what I would like to know is if anyone has personal experience of this and if the vetting will reassess me “sympathetically” and allow me to keep it?!

So it says here that vetting will not be granted if I have a DRO. But I already have been granted vetting status so they will reassess it… has this happened to anyone else please?

It seems ridiculous that I have NPPV 2 full vetting as I don’t actually have access to any sensitive information. I work for a charity as I commissioned contracted of the NHS who stipulate that employees must have vetting. I don’t work in or have access to any police information. I work
with the information that my clients give me.

anyone who has has this experience please let me know. I’m going to talk with HR tomorrow and see what they say but I think it is looking likely that I will lose vetting and therefore my job.

If you cant make the repayments you will end up with defaults which also have to be reported according to that list, so you may as well go for a DRO that actually resolves your debt problems.

So they don't employ anyone with a default?

I wonder how they get and keep all their staff?

Unless I'm missing something then this is a list of changes in circumstance that have to be reported, it doesn't say anywhere that vetting won't be granted.

Yes this is for a change in circumstances not initial vetting.  My vetting will need to be reviewed once I have declared my change…
