Surprised to get this from Barclays ...

Options
Sometime ago I had my credit limit slashed by barclays.

Limit was reduced year on year after I received a letter out of the blue. I am also aware they slashed many peoples limits without warning.

I wrote to close my account .. then received this message in the App.

What shocks me despite not missing payments no other defaults or CCJs is what barclays say ...

I was identified as a high risk score WITH  a risk trigger ??? What the hell ?

It seems the CRAs are identifying you as risky .. and you are risky if the CRA says you have  gambling transactions ! How do they know who is telling them is this shown on the statutory report they actually show you ?

They also tell uf you are unemployed sgain how the hell are they finding this out ?

Rest of it .. searches, high value transactions what ? Ccjs ?

Has anyone seen this ,?  .. how do they and how are the cras allowed to pass this data on ?,,

CRAs hold plenty of data about you, gathered from a variety of sources, but as that list is hypothetical about what could be considered to be high risk, it would probably make more sense to review your credit files yourself and see if there's anything there that's factually inaccurate?

I have done that ... checked my files no default, ccj, few searches.

Problem is finding out what the cra tells them  ... and this new finding seems to suggest cras feeding stuff that does not appear in your file.

Cloak n dagger stuff non transparent .. manifestly unfair ...

    Got to be wrong ...

    I think you are wrong.

That list in the text from Barclays is all the factors that they might consider in reducing your overdraft and the fact they received some of that information from CRAs.  It is not a list of the information that Barclays have received in relation to your own affairs.

It is not transparent but I would not say it is unfair for that reason.  The banks have to have confidential scoring matrix otherwise people would simply manage their affairs to score sufficiently high enough to obtain credit.  Banks, like any business, need to be able to make their own business decisions as to the terms that they do business with, or do not do business with, any customer.

Remember, while Barclays may take information from the CRAs for existing customers, the main source of information that Barclays hold on you is your own management of your own accounts with Barclays.

If you have checked your credit files and the information is correct, then there is nothing further to worry about.

As for how the CRAs obtain the information types referenced in the message from Barclays, this can often be sharing data via Open Banking which some people decide to do in pursuit of a higher credit score...
