Post-Christmas supermarket markdowns

It's January 6, the day that many choose to take down their decorations, but there are still some Christmas products left in the shops - and lots have now been marked down more than once.

What's the best bargain you've spotted? 

Here are some snaps from my tour of shops near me

29 pence per jar; bee July 2025.

@MSE_James - you have been busy! I'm not sure its worth going out of the way for any of these unless desperately missing the taste of Christmas. They'll all be back in the shops by the end of August after all.

Stollen bites for 93p in Tesco yesterday. I tend to avoid the shops between Christmas and New Year but there does seem to be less and less available to be reduced each year.

Lucky I bought mincemeat in Aldi a year ago (and there is some left!) as they ran out of stocks well before Christmas so none cheap....

This actually makes a really tasty fruit cake when stirred into sponge batter. Add some cinnamon and orange zest to "elevate the ordinary".

Vegan mincemeat, I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen it but wonder now if I have ever bought it by mistake

I don't think I'd notice whether candied orange peel was once coated in beeswax or not. All the supermarket mincemeat has been veggie for as long as I can remember, and that's the only difference! Unless you've been seeking out artisan traditional mincemeat made with beef suet, the stuff in the supermarket has been vegan, or would be vegan if not for potential beeswax cross contamination for years. It's just on the front of the packet now. 

Orange coated in beeswax? Never heard of that. Yes I mean normal mincemeat that has suet in it. 

I never even noticed that most are veg suet nowadays, shows how much notice I was taking. 

I notice now some say vegan & some says vegetarian too, I wonder what the difference is ….

Vegan means, or should do, there is nothing animal related in the product, this includes dairy, eggs, honey [bees food, not human]

Vegetarian is more relaxed, can include eggs, cheese etc, and some vegetarians even include shell fish

I'm not sure if there is a legal definition, so best be guided by any certification on packing

This irks me immensely - vegetarians do not eat fish, although pescatarians do.

Years ago a well-meaning events administrator informed me that some vegetarians eat chicken. I didn't have the time or energy to argue with ignorance.
