Benefits to UC

Good morning to everyone.
I was of the understanding that my benefits were not migrating to Universal Credit but it appears I was wrong.
i receive
Contribution based ESA support group. I had my neck I broken whilst doing my job and was awarded for life around 2014 ?
I received PIP for every day care and industrial injuries benefit.
Could anyone tell what will be transferred to UC, please.?.
Also with my above benefits I was allowed to have savings ( I got criminal injury payment many years ago ) however it could be argued by DWP that they are just savings by now.

Would my savings affect my benefits if migrating to UC ?.

Is all of your ESA contributions based? Your yearly uprating letter will tell you if you receive any income based
Contribution based ESA (and JSA) aren't part of UC
Income based ESA, income based JSA, income support, tax credits and housing benefit are being replaced by UCSealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Hi @HingebackFirstly - Have you actually had a Migration Notice saying that you have to claim UC?
Or is this just speculation at this time?If the ESA you currently get each week is more that £138.20 (£276.40 a fortnight) ie. if it includes any disability premiums such as the "Disability Income Guarantee", then it includes some IR ESA as well as CB ESA and the IR part will migrate to UC.Do you also claim Housing Benefit?TBH from the other things that you have said above then I don't believe that you are getting either IR ESA or HB*, so there is nothing to be migrated to UC.For the rest:PIP does not affect UC.IIDB overlaps with UC and is counted as 'Unearned Income' which will reduce the amount of UC that you can be paid.Criminal Injuries Compensation monies can be a very tricky one.
Generally they will affect Income Related benefits such as UC.
They would be counted as capital/savings and if you have over £6k then the benefits would be reduced, over £16K you are not entitled to IR benefits. However if they are for 'Personal Injury' and held in a Trust Fund then they can be disregarded (not counted) for IR benefits purposes.*Both IIDB and CIC would/should have affected any IR ESA and Housing Benefit as well - which is why I think you don't actually have either of those.

Yes my ESA is only contribution based
Do you know anything about industrial injuries benefit and I PIP ?
Do you know if one is migrated to UC does it affect your savings ?
Sorry for the all questions0 -

To answer tour question UC is means tested, which is affected by capital. PIP doesn't affect UC but IIDB does affect it and will reduce it £1 for £1.0 -

Thank you for the reply
No I have not received any migration notice as yet , I am just trying to sort things, just in case.
Originally I thought that I wasn’t going to be migrated but then read something a few weeks back that made me wonder. Doing some research left me even more confused.I receive £276.40 every two weeks in ESA
I do not claim any housing benefits
May I just qualify a few things
PIP and ESA will not affect the amount of UC in any way ?
IIB will be deducted from UC.Would UC be further affected by my savings ?
Thank you again for answering my questions . I am feeling a bit more relaxed now0 -
As you're not claiming any means tested benefits then you will not be migrated to UC. Therefore all of your questions regarding IIDB and capital are all irrelevant.0

No I am not claiming any means tested benefits. My injury occurred whilst doing my job and the job I had meant I got a pension to guarantee so much of my salary and then got my normal ( job pension too )
My wife was working and had a decent salary and is now taking her works pension ( retired )

As Poppy says, if your ESA payment is £276.40 a fortnight, and you don't claim Housing Benefit, then you will not be Managed Migrated to UC.You can take it off your worry list because it isn't going to happen. So yes, the questions about PIP and IIDB also don't apply in your case.To be clear- you will not be migrating to UC and will stay on the benefits that you are on now.0

Newcad, Poppy and indie kid
Thank you so much for your help , you don’t know how much it is appreciated.
I was under the impression I wasn’t going to migrate until I read an article a few months back. Looking online is so confusing with lots of contradicting information.
To be honest I have tried to close off from dwp etc and just try and live my life without hassle from them ( I have had plenty in the past ). So I am so out of tough with the benefit system.
Thank you once again !!!
