Tripp suitcase guarantee

Hello :)

We've got a Tripp cabin suitcase that has never quite had perfectly functioning wheels (I know, should've immediately returned it!) and it's now got worse so I'm trying to return/repair it but my issue is that I bought it from Next so I'm not sure where my 5 year guarantee comes in...

Tripp said I need to contact Next, but Next said they only cover 12 months and it's almost 2 years old.

Has anyone had a similar experience and can give me advice on who's responsible please?

Have you tried just lubricating the wheel mechanisms? A spray of WD40 or silicon my help.

Consumer rights with Next. But after 6 months you will need a report citing a manufacturing defecting.

Guarantee is by Tripp which is 5 years but only covers manufacturing defect

You need to check the guarantee to see if it applies to your purchase, it may be that the five years only applies if you purchase directly from Tripp, which might explain why they referred you to Next.  Next will cover your consumer rights but they'll probably ask you to get it inspected.

I suspect grit/dirt is the problem if it's got worse over time.  A good clean and lubrication will probably fix the problem.

Thanks all. It's 2 different issues with the wheels really so not so simple either lol. Initially the tracking on all 4 was poor so the case never moved straight. Now after using 2 wheels due to this issue, they just stick even with being cleaned/lubricated.

Not the answer you may be looking for, but it is possible to replace the wheels on a suitcase.

We did this on my old, large two wheeled Tripp suitcase that has a distinctive outer design, which we like for easy identification on the carousel.

Unzip the inner lining and have a look at the wheel fixings - I'll say upfront that it may be a bit fiddly (it took two of us to do it to my suitcase) but the end result is amazing, much smoother running (I think our new wheels are better quality than the originals) and it's both MSE (wheels are much cheaper than a new case) and environmentally friendly.

Amazon has an enormous range of replacement wheels. We took one off, and measured the diameter before ordering the replacement pair.
