Advice budgeting for Beamish?

Options
Hi!

Small boy has suggested Beamish for one of our camping trips this year. It's been years since I went, and there seems to be lots of new things, including some foodie bits that look good. To make sure I budget enough for the trip, can anyone who's been recently advise me on how much fish & chips, sweets and a meal in the Drivers Inn are? Or anywhere else for that matter, just so that I can gauge how much to save. I saw there was an extra charge for golf too, so any extra sneaky costs I should know about?

I know it would be cheaper to take a picnic, and will take a flask to avoid paying for cups of tea, but the food is part of what makes me want to go 😆

I've spotted a campsite near Hexham that fits our bill of cheap, cheerful and not many amenities, but if anyone can recommend any others in County Durham/Northumberland borders, please let me know :)

Why not contact them asking for menus?
No prices visinle on their main site but I imagine people with allergies might make enquiries of food availability ahead of time

we went when we lived up north. Loved the pay once and visit all year system they do so we went 3 times in all.

I can tell you the fish and chip shops (one in the mining village and 1 in the 1950's zone) get massively busy from 11am till probably 2pm. The Queues are crazy, we waited about 45mins one and we started queuing at 1pm. Costs are similar to other chippys now. Expensive.

the Pub is nice, small and you can take you beer outside to the park across, about £5 a pint. Sweets and the bakery are the same as if you found an independent shop on the high street. Also Bakery runs out of food quick and choice gets less and less during the day.

    Enjoy
