On 23rd Dec 24, I parked at Starbucks , Southgate Park, Stansted at 16.56.40pm I was feeling unwell, in pain and tired and wanted a rest and a herbal tea. I am registered disabled as I had a stroke few years ago and now can only walk with an aide. Unfortunately, after parking and displaying my blue badge in car window, I realised I didn't have any money or debit cards with me. I had accidentally left my purse at home. I don't have cards registered on my phone so could not pay by phone for tea so could not get out of car to go get tea in Starbucks. I sat for a little bit until I felt better then left car park at 17.12.36pm.
Today i received a notice to keeper asking for £100 for staying 15mins in car park outside Starbucks. I fully intended to go inside for drink but had no money to pay, therefore i wasn't a paying customer. I displayed my blue badge when parked.Does anyone know how i stand legally with MET Parking Services please.
Would greatly appreciate any assistance in dealing with this.Kindest regards,
I have a very similar example. I just received a £100 fine for parking outside Starbucks on 20th Dec. Is was in Starbucks for 42mins, I had no idea there was parking restrictions. Tried calling Starbucks a dozen times to try and understand how much time is free? No answer. The Met parking site is no help, they have a customers services page, without and customer services contact, pathetic but not surprised. Does anyone know how long you can park for free ? And is it worth contesting?
