AnyVan or Shiply? Local furniture delivery.

I haven't used a furniture delivery service in the last couple of years, so which is currently best for prices and reliability?
I tried a local man with a van because the furniture is only 7 miles away, but the price was more than the furniture is worth!

I suspect you are going to need a local person who will do a quick journey cash in hand. Any professional organisation is going to charge a high premium, even if it is just a short trip as they will need insurance etc plus mileage plus wages .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I tried two more local man with a van, one close to the collection address and one close to the delivery address. Neither replied to my text message, so I had to go with Shiply.

Granted it was 5yrs ago now, but we found AnyVan useless... They are essentially an agent and take no responsibility if the courier arrives late or cancels.
Ours arrived 14hrs late despite paying for a designated 2hr time slot. They did not care.0
