Sky locked me into contract against my wishes

Any advice on what I can do here would be appreciated!
My previous contract with Sky TV ran out in June/July last year, so I went onto a rolling monthly deal. In August 2024, I called them up to ask if I could move onto the Sky Signature package only, and they agreed to do this for a discounted price.
I said at the time that I did not want to re-contract, and was advised that whilst the "offer price" was valid for 24 months, I would still be on 30 day notice and could still leave at any time, with 30 days notice given.
However, when the confirmation email came through, it contained wording such as "new term commitment = 24 months", etc... so I called Sky back. They explained that their email correspondance is worded by template, and because the discount offer is applicable for 24 months, it has to be worded as per the template, but "not to worry as it's only the offer that is applicable for 24 months, not the contract". I was slightly dubious at the time, but didn't feel it necessary to challenge it as their explanation made sense.
Now I've come to regret that decision! I'm looking to move house soon, and called Sky to hand my notice in....I'm sure you can guess what's coming next.... "you are currently in contract until Aug 2026 and will face early termination fees, etc..." I explained the above but that fell on deaf ears.
Has this happened to anyone else? Just wondering if there is anything I can do??

You would have been sent a copy of the contract for review at the time. This would have clearly confirmed your new contract.
Do sky even do new deals without going under a new contract?0 -

Yes, sky do apply offers on their monthly rolling contracts. I've taken advantage of them many times over the 20+ years I've been a customer.1 -
best thing is to complain to Sky. Hopefully they will have a copy of the recording of the conversations.0
