I have never been able to fathom why the Personal Savings Allowance is not shown in the letter we receive to show the calculation of our tax code.
Can someone explain?

Despite its name, the PSA isn't an 'allowance' as such but a nil rate band, and its effect can only really be ascertained once other income streams are accounted for, whereas tax codes are used specifically to drive PAYE deductions by employers or pension providers, rather than to calculate overall income tax liabilities, although they can sometimes be modified to reflect expected liabilities arising from savings interest that falls outside the nil-rate band....5
