"Compensation" is possibly the incorrect word to use here.ev8 said:He mentioned that compensation would be sorted in due time.
Perhaps the gentleman that mentioned "compensation" really meant "goodwill gesture by way of apology".
Which is handy as you don't seem to have actually suffered any quantifiable loss for which "compensation" could be calculated - I note the disappointment and inconvenience but these don't directly align to quantifiable loss.
It was a total order of £4k. At most, 5% of that which would be £200 (which happens to be a similar number that others have suggested but arrived at in a different way). If they offer less, say £100, I'd probably be inclined to take that but if they low-ball, say £50, then push back.
The suggestion made to consider a service or such like might be good assuming such is actually a "thing". Try to check the value of the same and then you can request if suitable at a realistic level.1 -
Hi, just an update and ask...
There has been no communication about it at all except a girl to say it will be fitted and that's it.
We called today (set to be fit this week) and asked about compensation, finally the offered an extra year warranty and an extra service.
Does that seem reasonable?
Thanks in advance.1 -
Others may disagree but seeing as you're entitled to nothing and the warranty and service don't come cheap, I would say so.ev8 said

Do you think so? I have zero experience with something like this (it is a one off situation I think) so have no idea what would be best.TheSpectator said:

I felt that £200 was a reasonable sum for the inconvenience, so if the extra warranty and service have a value (to you) of about that, then I think that's fair.ev8 said:
