Morning allYup, lots of frost here too brrrrrrrr. Just been shopping for a few bits of food I'm running out of and had a look in the sales and got a couple of cheap tops just for wearing round the house. Put the heating on as soon as I got in so will be defrosting soon I hope. Settling down this afternoon to a new book I have just started by Robert Rinder. Got a 99p offer with the A website to read online.Dp1 hope DGD has a brilliant birthday today. She thoroughly deserves it and, hopefully, a better new year for her xHugs to the poodles. Have a good day all and keep warm x9

Good morning everyone
It's been very cold here overnight but it has been trying to rain so I think the temperature must be rising a little. Have had the heating on and will leave it on today as I'm in all day.
I ventured to the shops yesterday, it was nice and quiet in contrast to just before christmas. I then decided to take my decorations down. As nice as it is to see them go up its equally if not nicer when they come down. All put away now in the loft, I hate going up there it's a reminder of all the stuff that needs sorting and disposing of. A job for later I think.
Sending Happy Birthday wishes to DP1's little one, hope she has a lovely time
As always thoughts are with the sad, lonely and poorlies
Take care x10 -

Morning all, not as cold as I expected this morning, but snow is meant to be on the way.Happy 6th birthday to a special little girl @dp1- hope she has a fab day.All traces of Xmas put away in the loft yesterday!We ended up having an easy early tea as DGS was back from his stay in the Lakes and requesting his footie kit from DS2s for training last night.As DS2 is still away we had to fill in,but good to see him. It was very cold! One of the Dads has a warehouse unit on the outskirts of the next town, badly affected by flooding, he was showing us photos of his stock floating around
At least we managed to get the water at the front of our house shifted thanks to DS1s efforts ( thanks for the well done comments for him by the way
)
S-O, your meal sounds nice, and TA so glad you've got some mojo back!WL, that's our problem too with the log burner.It's a cold house so you start off freezing, then the layers have to come off!Snoozer- how infuriating.Hello @Mamaofmanybudgets ,welcomeHope you all have a good day.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Freezing here too 🥶 going to light the log burner soon and get all cosy for the afternoon we don’t need to go out for anything apart from taking the dogs out which OH will do later.

Afternoon all. Just a quick one today before I forget! It's bright and sunny with a cloudless blue sky, thick frost and very cold. I'm not looking forward to the snow we're supposed to be getting this weekend so will be battening down the hatches.
I didn't do a great deal yesterday but did manage to chop and freeze a head of celery and also made yummy braised red cabbage (15p Xmas veg), some of which I had for tea with cooked gammon slices and roast potatoes. Of the remainder, half is in the fridge and half in the freezer. Tonight it's going to be cod in butter sauce, mixed veg and mash. I have a mind to use some of the 15p carrots for a spicy carrot & lentil soup that will do for lunches and maybe a carrot cake. I can have the parsnips on Sunday, leaving just the sprouts and potatoes but they'll keep for a while.
I had a couple of text messages last night from DD and, after the initial pleasantries, there was the usual request to "borrow" some money. At that point I switched my phone off and I've heard nothing since. I know it sounds harsh but it's a case of tough love.It doesn't seem to matter how many times I try to explain that No means No, she still asks. And she's very inventive with the reasons why she's asking. Sorry, emotional blackmail doesn't work any more.
Not much else happening here so I'll get back to nursing the lurgy and maybe some knitting.
Happy birthday wishes to dp1's DGD on her 6th birthday and hugs for fellow Poodles. Stay warm and safe if you're planning any journeys. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.12
