Good morning, thanks for starting Gers.
It's bitterly cold with a heavy frost, think it's forecast to be the same for the next few days.
I wasn't out at all yesterday, had planned to go to Morries but didn't really need to when I thought about it.
We're going to a funeral today though, a friend's husband passed away a couple of weeks ago.
Rosy, that was a sterling job your ds did, good on him.
Sorry to hear you've got the lurgy YorksLass, hope you'll soon feel better.
Thinking of our poorly people, the coughers and sneezers and those who are sad and lonely - stay warm and safe today folks.16 -
Moved! It's not as cold (yet) as yesterday when the hard frost hardly thawed at all. The sun was bright, the sky blue, an almost perfect winter's day apart from the freezing temperatures. I went out once as I wanted a Radio Times, it was lovely to leave the house after almost 10 days.In the afternoon I put on a big white wash which is now on the airer and draped over the bannister. The other productive activity I did was update the monthly spreadsheets. 😀
The BT broadband which has been dodgy for a wee while eventually died last night, the hub did the red flashing light thing and wouldn't reconnect. I sent BT the 'help' text - this was past 9.00p.m., a text came back saying that they were doing diagnostics. After a short time a second text told me that there was a network problem which engineers would need to work on with a time limit of two working days. Half an hour later the lovely blue light was back and all seems well again. Great service BT.
Today I may go shopping though I don't really need anything, perhaps not as the forecast is dire for the next few days. Sorry to hear that the lurgy is felling some of us, fluid and rest are always the best options. When I was at the large Tesco last week I noticed that the hand sanitizer stations were back, not sure what difference it makes to the trolleys.Anyway, please take care everyone, no rash moves in freezing gardens. Hugs to all.15 -
Hi everyone,
I'm just snuggling in the warm before getting up to pack for the journey home.
I finished my Christmas jigsaw only to find I was missing a piece. I'll leave it as long as I can in hope that I'll find it.
The family are moving on from Glasgow to Centre Parks in the Lake District to celebrate one of Brian's aunt's 70th. I hope they don't get snowed in because Laura has an operation scheduled for Monday.
Have a good day.14 -
Morning
Another chilly one here. Went off for a trek around the lanes yesterday but there was black ice in patches all the way so finished up cutting back across the fields. Saw my first lamb of the season - just one and very early!
Felt like a restaurant here but all meals enjoyed and DDad had a nice birthday.Hoping for a quieter day - need to pop to the post office and will get a few essentials in case we get the forecast snow over the weekend. I’m not a fan of winter driving.Take care all

Morning everyone it’s bitterly cold today I’m going out to do my volunteering at the food waste soon I will be pleased when I’m back in I was tempted not to go but I know there will be only a few die hard volunteers there a lot don’t turn up when the weather is bad otherwise it’s dog walking and housework Rosy I couldn’t believe what I read about your DS well done although he shouldn’t have to . Thinking of all the poorlies and poodles hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing13

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Bloomin 'eck it's a parky one out there. I though we'd had some overnight snow but as it's got a tiny bit lighter I can now see it's a thick frost. It's saving the snow for the weekend but I hope they have that wrong!
I had a late text from middle DGD last night asking if she and younger one could call up this afternoon. Of course it was yes and I'm sure a freezer dive will find something to their liking for tea. This morning I really must address some neglected jobs which got put on hold when lurgy stopped play. Topmost are kitchen and bathroom, both of which have had too many licks and promises!
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for the poorly poodles, those with the lurgy, sad or lonely. And take care for anyone driving as the roads look deadly. Keep warm and safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Very heavy frost here this morning .
Lunch went well but I had a choking fit .
got home and fell asleep in a chair ,
not much planned for today13 -
Good morning, frosty and cold outside, but the temperatures 0 so I think we may have got off lightly.
Yesterday DH took the outside lights down, they just need to be sorted out and put away now. It took almost as long taking them down as putting them up. Then we went for a long walk with big dog, met some neighbours and had a good chat. When we got home hot chocolate was very welcome.
Dinner last night was roast pork and stuffing in part baked baguette, very nice. The pork and stuffing was cooked and frozen a few weeks ago. Tonight maybe fish and chips from the freezer. DH is asking if I'm going shopping today, but there isn't anything heeded, well not by me anyway. I'm trying to hold out as long as I can.
Stay safe and warm everyone hope the poorlies soon feel better, a.nd hugs to anyone who's sad. Have a good day all.13 -
Morning All
Cold again this morning but it looks icy rather than frosty. Didn't really warm up at all yesterday although it was lovely to see the sunshine.
I went for a wander to the shops with DD and the little one yesterday, lovely to see everyone relaxed after the shopping chaos before Christmas. I bought a couple of things but nothing much - Ikea had reduced wrapping paper that will do for birthday or Christmas so that can be stashed away. The little one got a new dress and a fur coat that she wandered around the shops with posing and looking in the windows and mirrors!
Happy Birthday to your little one dp1, hope she has a fantastic day and being 6 lives up to expectation.
Well done to your DS Rosy.
That poor little lamb Allie, hope it can stay cosy and warm.
That's a big job for you Mehefin, hope you don't get the expected snow.
Hugs to those in need.
Nothing much planned for today although I have a £5 off a £25 spend at Lidl so may go and see if they have any logs and call at the charity shop with some donations.
Take care. XX14 -
Morning all. Suitably brass monkeys this morning. The fence and gate will be finished today so there's some privacy along the runway that is the side of the house now, which means all the recycle bins can be put outside leaving more space inside. There's also a little archway cut into the bottom for the cats and fox, and also I just realised, parcels...so that's good
I'm not planning on doing much today, there is some sorting and planning to do. I did the insurances yesterday where they helpfully have an 'I'm thinking of leaving' button which brought it all down to four pounds less than I was quoted individually so obviously, I stayed with them. All online, less hassle than phoning. I do wonder how many people just accept the renewal prices because it does feel like they are trying it on. And I will pick something from the cookbook I mentioned yesterday for tonights supper. Something warming and comforting..Which reminds me I have three celery [ bought for 15p each] to chop and freeze. I use loads of it in soups, sauces and stews throughout the year. So that means I'll be sorting out the freezers too then.
Rosy, what a sterling job they did. They shouldn't have had to but it was lovely to hear people stepping up rather than sitting and moaning it was someone elses responsibility. I'd nominate them for a community award of some kindAllie, hapy belateds to your dad! First lamb? Poor thing, it didn't pick a lovely mild time to come out...WL, 5 dances?! Wow....and poor you getting extreme soaked...well done for the foresight in extra clothing though. mehefin, must be a really difficult to dry a horse rug overnight, I feel for you. I can dry some clothes over the fire but I expect you'd need something way more industrial to do yours! nanny, I do love that about freezers. You can put off making decisions for so long with freezinf raw and then cooked
Gers, great service indeed! TA, don't forget to just be lazy, this lurgy is terrible for lingering on..Suffolksue, hope you're ok now. dp1, happy birthday to your dgd, let's hope it's as good as she has built it up to be
Take care all, stay wamr, get them coats on poodles!
