EDF let me change my current Ensure Tracker tariff yesterday without paying any of the £25 fees your supposed to pay .

Im not sure it was the right thing to do or not but went ahead because of the flexibility to change this new 1 yr fixed tariff in the future without any further fees .

Now on the 1yr simply fixed direct jan26 v7 with no fees to change tariffs if I want to .
Its not alot cheaper .....estimated only £5-10 per year less but has flexibility to move to another tariff with no fees etc

These are the unit rates on the 1yr Simply fixed direct jan26v7 in London
Elec 25.60p per kwh
         34.70 per day
Gas  6.41p per kwh
         25.13 per day

I thought about moving to Octopus as they were said to be the most cost effective in London
If anyone has any better suggestions or opinions that would be great .
I am a very low user .

Are the unit rates and daily charges above the best I could hope for in the London area or not?

Are you sure you don't have exit fees to change supplier?

Go to octopus and put in your postcode and get a quote or use an energy comparison site they are back to being if some use now

There's a BIG difference between changing tariffs with a supplier and changing Supplier when it comes to exit fees. Most don't charge for switching tariffs but often WILL charge for changing supplier.
Edit: As there seems to be a few now not charging exit fees on some deals!

i done what the OP done year gone nov with SP, went from a fix with fees to svr and didnt charge me then moved the same day to octopus
octopus is showing cheaper than edf on there 1yr deal
infact looking at the 2 year deal is worth thinking about currently paying 5.52 and current octopus fix is 6.10 for gas and edf showing 6.01 but the £150 exit fee is the downside

lol these companies doing 2 year fixes for similar to 1 year makes it look like the energy companies reckon nothing will change much pricing wise

I was curious whether EDF would allow this. I'm tied to their Ensure Tracker tariff that only gives a 50 pound discount until August.

How did you approach them? Did you phone them up? I assume if I simply change it on-line, they will charge?

First off I was mistaken thinking I couldnt change my tracker tariff...the £25 fees are if you change provider not if you change your tariff within EDF .....as posters later advised in this thread .
I ring EDF up....as always and have generally taken the advisers suggestions in the past but getting a better deal isnt a givern these days .
Hopefully the 1yr fixed tariff I got works out a little better for a lower user as well as you have the ability to move providers without a fee .

I had to call up twice. The first agent said no, but the second let me switch the Simply Tracker deal I wanted. As I was on the Ensure Tariff, that should save me an extra 50 pounds a year. :-)
