Does the picture open up in paint or another image viewer app?

If it doesn't, then that means the image itself is corrupted.

So a scandisk check as it may be  a disk corruption issue.
  • The blank picture with an "X" in FastStone Image Viewer typically indicates that the program cannot locate the original file. This often happens if the image file was moved, renamed, or deleted from its original location.

    Steps to Resolve:

    1. Check File Location: Make sure the image file still exists in its original folder. If it's been moved, navigate to the new location and open it manually.
    2. Refresh the Viewer: Use the "Refresh" option in FastStone (usually via the right-click menu or F5 key) to update the file directory.
    3. Recover Deleted Files: If the images were accidentally deleted, use recovery software like Recuva or EaseUS Data Recovery.
    4. Check for Corruption: If the file is damaged, tools like Stellar Repair for Photo may help restore it.
