after best art of a year my sipp has returned 3.05% (2 hsbc global strategy funds) as a new investor I wondered how this compares to other peoples returns this year
i have around 15 years till retirement and left it late to start, are people concerned about world events / trump and is this affecting anyones decision making on their investments this year?

How have you managed to perform so much worse than the underlying funds? Has your capital really been in it for nearly a year?

Which HSBC global strategy funds? There are 5 of them with very different performance characteristics. Have you chosen the most appropriate one for your needs? The adventurous fund is the best performing with a 16% return over the past year but of course it can be somewhat volatile.
With 15 years to go why are you worried about Trump? He will be long gone by the time you need the money and much will have happened in the meantime. Best to just keep investing steadily and ignore the news.3 -

In any case many major news events, often have no effect on financial markets.1 -
Even the 'worst' performing GS fund over the last year has returned 9 4+%, so 3% for a year's investment doesn't add up.

A 3% return doesn't make sense, even the cautious global strategy fund returned 4.4%.0

To safe a lot of posts saying the same thing, here is a quick 2024 of the different sector averages in the main areas:

i have global strategy balanced C Acc - which is at 3.35%
and dynamic C Acc which is at 2.49%
which shows as 3.05% across the account
Less returns than I have with any cash but there are the tax benefits. Sounds like i could do better elsewhere though from what has been said here0 -
If I believe HL those two investments returned 10% and 14% respectively over the last year.
Maybe this has more to do with when you contributed to the SIPP than the actual performance of the investments.2 -
do you think its worth placing it elsewhere or stick with it?
