Eon smart gas meter issue

Hi folks, hope someone can help, not getting much joy anywhere else.
Recently had a gas smart meter fitted from Eon (Landis + Gyr), problem is it appers to be showing I have used twice as many units as my old non smart meter, even though we are only in the house 60% of the time compared to the same time last year.
Is the m3 reading a direct indicator of K/wh's used?

The meter will send readings in m3
These will be converted into kWh on the bill.

Many thanks Ayr_Rage. So would the old (40year) meter have sent the reading in an imperial format?0

The multiplication factor varies depending on the composition of the gas in the pipe, but is usually around 11.2, so 1 cubic metre of gas is 11.2 kilowatt-hours.Ayr_Rage said:The meter will send readings in m3

Was your old meter an Imperial one, measuring hundreds of cubic feet instead of cubic metres?Nowthenlad said:it appers to be showing I have used twice as many units as my old non smart meter, even though we are only in the house 60% of the time

Almost certainly, would have been in 100 cubic feet increments (on old meters the 1's and 10's numbers were ignored for billing purposes). Dig out an old bill, you should see the units being used.Nowthenlad said:Many thanks Ayr_Rage. So would the old (40year) meter have sent the reading in an imperial format?0 -
One unit on an Imperial meter (100 cubic feet) is 2.83 cubic metres.

If it's a 40 year old one so not smart then it won't be sending the readings anywhere. Do you have any photos of it to see what the old one said on the face?Nowthenlad said:Many thanks Ayr_Rage.
