English parking fines for Norther Ireland resident
Hi everyone,
I’ve read through the newbies guide on the forum, I believe the circumstance is slightly outside of what is covered in the guide therefore I hope there’s understanding as to why I’m creating a separate thread for this incident.
I’m temporarily based in England for work purposes, I’ve received notice to keeper letters in the post to my NI Address. The company these have been issued by are IPC AOS Members. I am in the wrong in the cases that I've been fined as I'd been parking in a private parking area while staying at an air bnb. I have numerous fines for this (totalling 6 at the moment).
I decided to post due to there not being a clear guide for this circumstance, if it had happened in N.I I would have appealed, as I have done in the past. But as this incident has taken place in England I was worried there’d be recourse that could extend to N.I.

Definitely not a fine, just a pcn, an invoice from a private parking company
Magistrates issue fines
Ignore it, ignore them, no keeper liability in NI

I'm not sure why you would appeal a PCN from an unregulated private parking company in NI. The advice there is to complain to the NI Consumer Council and your NI MP.
I would however say that one of the reasons these parking companies exist is because people park where they shouldn't. I suggest therefore that in future you comply with the parking terms and conditions, or find somewhere else to park.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

Totally ignore it in NI, as my signature says!
That's why no guidance is needed. You are untouchable. NI = ignore, simple as that.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Just to double check, the fines weren't issued against parking violations committed in Northern Ireland. They were committed/issued in England. I do live in Northern Ireland, England is only a temporary residency. Do you still think it best just to ignore?Totally ignore it in NI, as my signature says!

My only worry now would be they pursue legal action as I've received numerous parking violations therefore it makes it worth their while.

Thankyou for this thread. It has really helped me as I'm in the same situation.

You do realise that the advice relates exclusively to someone whose home address is in Northern Ireland. Do you live there? I've looked back at your one (and only) thread on this forum and there's no mention of NI in it.historyheritage said:Thankyou for this thread. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

My comment was in response to yours about what you have done in the past.P4rk1ngT1ck3t said:

You should also be aware that it is not a violation, (nor a penalty, nor a fine), but nought more than a speculative invoice from an unregulated private parking company, one of many referred to as rogues, scammers, and bloodsuckers by UK MPs across all parties.
Please do complain to your MP anyway. It's the only way this unregulated industry will ever be brought under control.
There is now a group of around eleven MPs who are trying to get the government to act in regard to the unregulated private parking industry, and get the mandatory government Code of Practice (CoP) introduced. Details can be found in this post. Please ask your MP to forward your complaint to that group.

Make sure the keeper's MP understands that the new combined BPA/IPC Code of Practice is not the mandatory government CoP and was deliberately (in my opinion) introduced to cause confusion on this subject, to support the unregulated private parking industry, and increase profits for the parking companies that funded this new CoP.
Please sign the petition linked in the post below, and ecourage everyone you know to do the same.

Yes I live in NI and am the registered keeper, I was not driving but the PCN was in England. They have sent me a letter before claim to my NI address but I guess they won't pursue due to this technicality. I was going to reply to letter pointing out I was from NI but seems like I can just ignore them.Umkomaas said:

Best update and bring your thread about your PCN to a close by mentioning there that you've read a few threads and realise that you can ignore private PCNs because you are nigh on untouchable, as you live in NI.historyheritage said:

That might help others who search later.
