NatWest say they can’t do a credit check for mortgage as current address is commercial

We’re in the process of securing a mortgage with NatWest. They are happy with everything they have but they are now saying that they are unable to perform a credit check on us as our current address is commercial.
We are confused as we thought credit checks were done on people and not on addresses.
Our address on our credit check says ‘Accommodation at xxxx’. We both high very high scores. We are on the electoral roll, all other bank accounts and credit cards are registered at our address with no issue so credit checks must have been completed in last 3 years. We are now trying to get Royal Mail to add a non commercial address to the PAF but this could take weeks and we will loose our mortgage. Any ideas as we can’t find evidence of this happening before, our. Broker has asked other underwriters and they haven’t seen it before either.

Are you using a broker? You could try another lender.1

Is this a standard residential mortgage for a purchase of a different property? Struggling to see their logic really - I could maybe understand if a lender was worried that it was some sort of fake address and they wouldn't find you there if you defaulted - but if it's a standard mortgage then obviously you'll be moving into the mortgaged address anyway.0

Just a standard mortgage… to purchase a standard residential property. We don’t own the property we currently live in so this is just straight forward property purchase with no chain on our side.0

Thanks @m0bvu, yes we have a Broker and they’ve been great. A new offer is probably our next step.0

Never heard of not being able to use commercial addresses but may have a poor matching given there is more variance on how addresses are entered.
Its your broker's problem to fix1
