Yeah it’s not really MSE but buying as a group would be - I bought it as a toy really that comes with practical uses… pointing it at an open fire and then the freezer are examples of some fun (nonsense)silvercar said:These look interesting. Though I'm not sure I can justify the price tag. I really need to find a few friends to get together and share.0 -
Looking again at the door - yes it's pretty and other half must be kept happy but - they do pvc/composite doors with the same diamond window. Have a look at the window sizes/email for sizes and see if the little stained glass panel will fit.It may be a compromise that will work.It may also be possible to add a second piece of glass behind making it more efficient.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

We have a house with a 1920's door. Top half is leaded/stained glass, with similar windows either side. Looks nice, so we are loath to replace.twopenny said:Looking again at the door - yes it's pretty and other half must be kept happy but - they do pvc/composite doors with the same diamond window. I found a carpenter who cut spacer strips and trim to allow glass secondary glazing to be added to each small panel, and arranged for a glazier to cut the glass - some of which had curved edges. The result is almost invisible, and makes a big difference to heat loss.3 -
Replacing the door and frame is likely to be the best option in the long run but I found a suitable door curtain and rail effective with my old wooden door. Has since been replaced with a new UPVC door and don't need a curtain any more1

I've got a blind over the double glazed door window and in very cold weather I have a piece of thermal blind that attaches with velchro to the window (you can't see the velchro normally) and that makes a difference.Still for the single glazed so small it would be good to put another layer behind it.
