Selling car but keeping private plate

Put personal plate onto new car when you buy it, did that back in Dec. These days you do not have to put a standard plate on a new car prior to fitting a personal plate.[Deleted User] said:ok so its a bit complicated. Part of the problem is the car is with son and hes away in college (with current plates on).
I guess when I do the retention its a case of
1. putting old plates on and telling insurance.
2. When new car is bought telling insurance
3. When retained plate is put onto new car telling insurance.
3x admin fees to insurer :-(

So perhaps in the future find an insurer that doesn't charge admin fees for plate changes.[Deleted User] said:ok so its a bit complicated. Part of the problem is the car is with son and hes away in college (with current plates on).

Or, heavens, you could even live with the normal plate on the car...1 -

NFU also don't charge for things like number plate changes.
The also offer monthly payments at exactly one-twelve of the yearly premium - i.e. no interest charges.
NFU is not just for farmers.1 -
So a bit of jealousy here then ?Mildly_Miffed said:
