Hi all.
I've been with British Gas for about 2 months and I've been getting billed on a monthly basis.
Is that right ? I thought it was every 3 months?
I also pay by debit card instead of having a direct debit. Not sure if that makes any difference.
Thanks.

It probably makes your bill 5% more expensive.Conrad3000 said:I also pay by debit card instead of having a direct debit. Not sure if that makes any difference.

I only left them a couple of months ago & the norm was 3 monthly.paying by DD. You are paying the penalty for not paying by DD as you are more likely not to pay & will cost them more to collect.

Depends on your supplier.

Many people are now "billed" - even more issued statements of account - monthly.Conrad3000 said:Hi all.

Many on Krakken get monthly statements - EOn Next email mine - there pretty much electronic these days for DD anyway.
Iirc EDF have a target date this spring (Apr May ?) for completing the move to monthly for all?? standard credit customers - but it's been happening for months now - late 2023 iirc when announced - so maybe got the date wrong in my mind - many of who would have been quarterly.
Not paying by DD but by card if on standard credit rates will be c6% higher at cap levels. The standard credit cap is higher - c£113 as of Jan cap - so Wed change £1851 vs £1738 - so your paying higher standing charges and unit rates pro rata to use.
Prepay was cheaper than DD Jan cap £1690 - c£48- and with smart prepay payment can normally be done online.
Some keen savers here switched when Apr rates announced as a result. Its not even a meter change if smart.
